New developments in the case of fireworks and "mess" on Highway 1

Related to the fireworks incident and "making a mess" On January 14, on National Highway 1, Tien Giang Provincial Police temporarily detained 5 more subjects including: Le Vu Luan (born 1996); Dang Nguyen Nhat Quang (born 2000); Nguyen Chi Thanh (born 1996), Luong Quoc Duy (born 2001) and Nguyen Quoc Thang (born 1996) to investigate, clarify and handle the act of disturbing public order.

Scene of the incident

Previously, at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, Le Thanh Khoa (born in 1990; residing in Tan Hoi commune, Cai Lay town, Tien Giang province) held a birthday party at the pho restaurant owned by Khoa on the side of National Highway 1, Nhi My ward, Cai Lay town. Khoa invited more than 100 relatives and friends to attend.

5 more subjects detained

While organizing the party, Khoa turned on a large sound system to sing and dance in the yard of his house. At around 10 p.m. the same day, Tran Anh Dung (born in 2003) took 5 boxes of fireworks and placed them on the median strip of National Highway 1 and lit them to “enjoy” the party.

When the fireworks exploded, about 20 people ran out to dance, film and take pictures on Highway 1, affecting traffic safety and public order.

Through investigation, on January 11, Tien Giang Provincial Police temporarily detained 6 subjects for disturbing public order.

Thus, up to now, the police have detained 11 related subjects to investigate the act of disturbing public order. Cai Lay town police are still coordinating with related units to continue investigating the case, clarifying and strictly handling the subjects.
