In Tien Giang province, for many years, the Provincial Social Work Center (abbreviated as the Center) under the Department of Health has become a common home for the above-mentioned special lives. The Center is not only a care facility, but also a real home, where unfortunate lives are nurtured with all their heart and responsibility.

A warm home of human love

The Center's Board of Directors said that the Center is currently caring for and nurturing 360 people, including mentally ill patients, homeless people, the elderly and children under 16 years old without caregivers. Each case entering the Center is a different life and situation, some are homeless, some have long-term illnesses that cannot be cured, some have no relatives to care for them, orphans... The Center always identifies that caring for and nurturing patients is not only a responsibility and obligation, but also a sympathy and sharing with those who are less fortunate in life.

There are patients who come to the Center for a few months, a few years, but some have been here for more than ten years. Sharing the hardships that patients face, the Center's staff always upholds a sense of responsibility, considering patients as relatives and taking care of them wholeheartedly. As for "special subjects", care does not stop at "feeding", but must be comprehensive from physical to mental. Every day, the Center provides three nutritious meals, changing the menu weekly to avoid boredom and ensure health. For the elderly, weak, and sick, the Center's staff supports feeding porridge, rice, and milk to the bed.

According to the care staff at the Center, almost all the subjects here need love. Therefore, the more attached to the Center, the more they come into contact with lonely and sick lives, the greater the compassion in each care staff. Every day, seeing the subjects in high spirits when receiving the care of the Center's staff, the care workers have more motivation to try and not hesitate in their work.

Ms. Le Ngoc Hoang Yen Anh, a staff member of the Center, shared: “I have been working at the Center for many years. I take care of the elderly, most of whom have suffered from strokes and have difficulty moving around. My working day starts at 6am, helping them eat, bathe, clean, and then clean their living space and do laundry. Many of them are uncomfortable due to illness, confusion, or lack of “cooperation”... but there are also many who have a lovely personality. However, understanding their circumstances and feelings, I cannot get angry with them, but on the contrary, I always take care of them like my own parents.”

In order for the Center to truly become a common home for the unfortunate, it is impossible not to mention the role of organizations and philanthropists - those who have given the Center strength in its journey of caring for special subjects. In just the first 6 months of 2025, the Center has received a series of essential items such as: More than 14 tons of rice, 401 boxes of instant noodles, 1,193 packages of instant porridge, thousands of sets of clothes, hundreds of bottles of cooking oil, fish sauce, soap, diapers, medicine, etc. Each gift, big or small, is a testament to the spirit of "the rich help the poor", contributing to alleviating the pain and deprivation of special subjects.

LOVE AND RESPONSIBILITY

In addition to treating patients according to the treatment regimen and dispensing medicine according to regulations, the Center also organizes suitable recreational activities for patients such as watching TV, listening to music, playing sports , performing arts, singing karaoke, etc. Physical therapy and rehabilitation exercises are carried out regularly. The Center always focuses on effectively caring for the spiritual life of social protection beneficiaries; organizing cultural education for children of school age is given attention and favorable conditions are created.

With practical activities, the Center has become a trusted address, a common home for unfortunate lives. Thanks to appropriate treatment and attentive care, in the first 6 months of 2025, the Center has supported 11 cases to reintegrate into the community; handed over orphans for adoption to qualified families; advised 9 cases on adoption, voluntary care for the elderly... Cases with verified relatives, qualified in terms of psychology and health are all guided to return to their families in the localities.

According to the Center's Board of Directors, with love and responsibility for their work, the staff and workers at the Center continue to make efforts in every task so that those who are cared for and nurtured at the Center feel that this is truly a common home, a big family. Thereby, helping them live in love, care, without feeling self-conscious or inferior.

The Center carries out the management, care and nurturing of social protection beneficiaries in accordance with the prescribed regime and policies. The material and spiritual life of the beneficiaries is increasingly improved. In 2025, the Center will continue to maintain and improve the quality of management, care and nurturing of social protection beneficiaries. Organize therapeutic labor well, contributing to improving the health and spirit of the beneficiaries; at the same time, continue to receive support and sponsorship from organizations and individuals inside and outside the province to assist the "special beneficiaries" at the Center.
