Actress Le Giang hospitalized for leg surgery

Le Giang told VietNamNet that nearly 20 years ago she fell and a motorbike ran over her leg. Afterwards, Le Giang was taken to the Orthopedic and Trauma Hospital (HCMC) to have a cast applied.

The actress has been calm about her injury for some time now. Several months ago, she started to feel pain in her legs. Every time she had to walk or run, she felt uncomfortable but did not show it.

However, Le Giang did not go to get her leg checked due to her busy filming schedule. When she followed the film crew of Mrs. Nu's House to interact with audiences nationwide, Le Giang's leg became more and more painful. Many times, Tran Thanh had to massage her leg after the interactions.

When her leg was too painful to sit normally, Le Giang decided to have surgery 9 days ago. The doctor concluded that she had crushed, torn and degenerated cartilage; fluid accumulation and degeneration of the left knee joint. The bone spurs were piercing the muscles, causing the actress constant pain.

Le Giang chose endoscopic surgery instead of general anesthesia because she was afraid it would affect her memory. After the surgery, her leg pain was relieved. Currently, her health is stable and she is actively practicing walking again.

The doctor said the surgery helped Le Giang recover from her old leg injury, without affecting her ability to walk or act in films in the future. In the near future, the actress will only need to inject more synovial fluid into her knee joint.

"I'm a bit stubborn so outsiders don't know I'm in pain. I'm very shy about announcing my health status, afraid that people will worry," the actor shared.

Previously, Le Giang had kept secret the fact that she had a torn cornea and a bruise in her eye due to an accident. When she could no longer work, the actress announced it on her personal page.

At the age of over 50, Le Giang is still working hard in the arts. This past Lunar New Year, she appeared in two big-hit films: Mrs. Nu's House by Tran Thanh and Sister Sister 2 by Vu Ngoc Dang.

In addition to art, Le Giang also does business and spends time taking care of her grandchildren. The busy schedule makes the actress exhausted and susceptible to illness. In November 2022, she was hospitalized for stomach dysfunction.

The actress thinks it's time to limit her work. "Money can be earned but health cannot. I don't dare complain too much because I have to make a trade-off to get where I am today," she once said.
