On the afternoon of August 15, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held the draw for the AFC Champions League Two. This tournament will feature superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr Club (Saudi Arabia). Two Vietnamese clubs, Nam Dinh and Cong An Ha Noi, will also be participating in this tournament.
However, despite competing in the same tournament, it is difficult for the two Vietnamese clubs to have the opportunity to face Ronaldo. According to the regulations, AFC Champions League Two will divide the participating teams into two competition areas.
The West Asia region consists of 16 teams, divided into 4 groups from A to D. The 16 East Asian teams are in 4 groups, from E to H. These two regions compete completely separately, with no connection to each other. Specifically, the West Asia and East Asia regions compete until a champion is found.
The West Asian champions will then face the East Asian champions in the all-Asian final. The winner of this match will be crowned AFC Champions League Two champions.
With this regulation, Vietnamese clubs who want to meet Ronaldo must satisfy two conditions. First, Ronaldo and Al Nassr must win the West Asian championship. And the Vietnamese club must win the East Asian championship.
Al Nassr is a candidate to win the tournament and there is a high possibility that they will win the West Asian championship. However, it is very difficult for Vietnamese clubs to win the East Asian championship, where there are many strong clubs from Japan and Korea.
However, Vietnamese clubs have the right to dream, because last year Singapore's Lion City Club surprised everyone by defeating many strong opponents to reach the Asian final.
