With the theme “Cultural Essence”, the opening night kicked off a series of five fireworks nights from June 8 to July 13, 2024, considered a vibrant artistic high note in the magical symphony of fireworks, music and light to highlight the friendship and solidarity among nations around the world. 
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Trung Chinh - Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee affirmed: " The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival wants to convey a message about the connection between peoples, countries, the harmony between people and nature towards a peaceful, civilized and prosperous world." With the performances of professional fireworks teams from countries around the world, the festival also has many accompanying programs, with the desire to bring visitors a complete experience of the festival, of the beautiful city of Da Nang ", Mr. Le Trung Chinh emphasized. 
And not disappointing the expectations of the people and tourists nationwide, the opening night of DIFF 2024 lit up the sky over the Han River with thousands of splendid and magical fireworks. 10,000 seats were filled with spectators, a testament to the special attraction of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival. 
The first confrontation of the DIFF 2024 season comes between the defending champion ArtEventia (France) and the host team Da Nang (Vietnam). 
The elaborate fireworks script and the different shooting techniques are the common comments of many audiences this year about the performance called “Sky Dance” of the Da Nang team. With more than a decade of “fighting” experience, the team has increasingly perfected their shooting techniques, creating a satisfying and emotional performance with 3 chapters: Heavenly Lantern - Human Harmony - Prosperity. Like birds soaring in the sky, gentle and soaring, the first fireworks of the Vietnamese team appeared in the sweet sounds of the song “Heaven”. 
When the music started to get lively, the fireworks exploded, spreading their light wider and brighter than ever. The shape resembling birds spreading their wings and flying high symbolized the development and sublimation of the beautiful coastal city and the hospitality of the people of Da Nang. The climax was the last bursts of fireworks that exploded continuously, interwoven with hundreds of lighting effects at the same time, overwhelming and delighting the audience. The image of the fireworks like a clenched hand in the sky gradually fading away in the night sky of the Han River was one of the most memorable moments of the opening night. The fireworks had gone out but were lit up as a strong message of solidarity and friendship between nations. 
Taking the image of the dragon, which is also the mascot of Vietnamese culture in 2024, the reigning champion team France painted the sky of the Han River with enchanting and captivating "dances" to convey the message of strength, power and human connection. Starting with the majestic, somewhat poignant sound of "Lady Dragon", the fireworks of the competing team were shot skillfully and skillfully into the sky, creating waves of light that curved like mighty dragons. With the level of the reigning champion, the fireworks were shot very skillfully, using the layering technique, rotating continuously in a variety of fireworks shapes from palm trees, spheres, willow trees to chrysanthemums,... to harmonize with the captivating sounds of "The Light", "Requiem for A Dying Sea", "Dancing Queen",... 
The explosion was when the vibrant melodies of "Kill This Love" performed by the famous Korean girl group Blackpink were heard, causing endless applause. The team also scored strongly with the audience when they brought Vietnamese music with the song "Sweetness of Tomorrow" by My Tam and rapper Suboi into their performance. " This year's opening performance was truly top-notch. I have to give special praise to the Da Nang team. This year they really made great progress, even though the unfavorable weather caused the smog to reduce the effect of the performance. The French team's performance was unspeakable. It was worth the effort to hunt for tickets to watch the fireworks live and enjoy the smell of the fireworks from the stands . My family and I will definitely return to the stands this year during the fireworks season," said Ms. Thuy Minh - a Da Nang resident. In addition to the intense competition of light and sound from the competing teams, the audience at the opening ceremony of DIFF this year also enjoyed an unprecedented artistic space. The stage was designed with inspiration from the image of a “hand” with fingers reaching high, as if supporting the bursts of fireworks shining brightly in the sky, emphasizing the profound message of connection. 
Unprecedented in previous DIFF seasons, the audience witnessed for the first time a unique art performance combining both onshore and underwater performances. This was also the opening performance for the art program that the organizers continued to trust in director Nguyen Khai Anh. The quintessence of traditional culture and modern art was uniquely combined, between the sweet sounds in "Lullaby of Au Lac" performed by Divo Tung Duong with the acrobatic and spinning performances in the air combined with sound, light and extremely eye-catching fireworks by flyboard athletes who achieved world records and awards in the Jetski & Flyboard sports show. This was one of the most impressive performances for viewers on the opening night. The opening act also featured hundreds of dancers to recreate the legend of Lac Long Quan - Au Co with 50 children following their father to the mountains and 50 following their mother to the sea, bringing viewers back to the sacred roots of the nation. The magnificent and heroic performance is like a warm welcome from Vietnam to international friends. The majestic melodies, honoring the beauty of Vietnamese women in the song "Canh chim phoenix" were elaborately staged by the director and sent to the audience through the performance of singer Tung Duong. The DIFF 2024 stage is the first place where the male singer respectfully brought his latest song to perform. The Bac Ninh folk song "Qua Cau Gio Bay" "both strange and familiar" especially created excitement for the audience when combining the voice of singer Hong Duyen with the unique rap of rapper Quang Dat, highlighting the intersection of national sounds and modern art. 
The climax of the art program was the appearance of Trang Phap - the girl who just won the championship of "Beautiful Sister Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves 2023" with the immortal French love song "La Vie En Rose", bringing an extremely romantic and emotional space to enjoy art. 
And indispensable in every DIFF art program is the performance expressing friendship and international culture. The energetic Cancan dance with fast rhythm (2/4 beat), strong, refreshing, enchanting the whole world of France performed on the DIFF stage is the hyphen for the solidarity of nations, true to the spirit of the main theme of this year's festival - "Made in Unity - Global connection - Radiant five continents". Tourist William from the US excitedly said: " I am more excited than ever . I am very impressed with the combination of Jetski & Flyboard with traditional music. This is the first time there has been a performance that left me speechless. You have to come here and witness it in person to feel all these wonderful things. This is no longer a fireworks display but a real art party."| After the opening night, the following nights will witness the competition between the following teams: Italy - USA (June 15) (Made of Nature Wisdom - Natural masterpiece); Germany - Poland (June 22) (Made of Love Inspiration - Magical love); China - Finland (June 29) (Made of Fairy Tales - Fairy world) and the final night will take place on July 13 with the name "Made of Young Generation - Future heartbeat". As usual, the fireworks teams will have 20-22 minutes to perform each night. Accompanying the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2024, National Citizen Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NCB) is giving away 600 pairs of DIFF tickets to new depositors across the system. Accordingly, from now until June 29, 2024, customers who open a new savings account of VND 100 million or more at NCB with a term of 6 months or more will immediately receive 01 pair of fireworks tickets to attend 1 of the first 4 shows of DIFF 2024.
