Midfielder Do Hoang Hen (Hendrio Araujo) officially has Vietnamese nationality and will soon be eligible to play for the national team.

After many months of waiting for naturalization procedures, today (October 16), midfielder Do Hoang Hen officially became a Vietnamese citizen. The Brazilian-born player, whose old name is Hendrio Araujo, was naturalized as a Vietnamese citizen by Hanoi FC after accumulating 5 years of living and playing in the S-shaped strip of land.

The naturalization process for Do Hoang Hen has been underway since the end of last season. Initially, Hanoi FC planned to register Hoang Hen as a domestic player this season. However, it is only now that the 1994-born player has Vietnamese nationality.

Before that, he had not been registered to compete because the procedure had not been completed, so he was still considered a foreign player.

The presence of Do Hoang Hen promises to strengthen both Hanoi Club and the Vietnam national team.

Coming to Vietnam in 2021 and immediately attracting the attention of experts and fans when scoring 1 goal and assisting 2 goals in just the first 3 matches in V-League.

The 2022 season became a memorable milestone in the 31-year-old midfielder's career when he played a pivotal role in helping Binh Dinh Club win 3rd place in the V-League after 16 years of waiting.

In the 2023-2024 season, the Brazilian player continued to play impressively for Nam Dinh . He scored 12 goals and had 13 assists, teaming up with Nguyen Xuan Son to form a duo that greatly contributed to helping the team from Thanh Nam win the V-League.

During his 5 years playing in Vietnam, Hendrio has 29 goals and 31 assists. He shows flexibility in his playing style when he can take on many positions such as attacking midfielder or playing on both wings.

It is expected that Do Hoang Hen will soon be registered to play for Hanoi FC. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) will also submit to the International Football Federation (FIFA) all documents and paperwork of Hoang Hen, as they did with Xuan Son, to request permission for Do Hoang Hen to play for the Vietnam national team.

Maybe next year, fans will see the duo Xuan Son and Hoang Hen in the Vietnamese national team jersey, in the match against Malaysia (March 2026).
