Hendrio receives citizenship, ready to join Vietnam national team

(Dan Tri) - Midfielder Hendrio officially has Vietnamese nationality and will be eligible to play for the Vietnam national team in early 2026.

In the near future, Hendrio can debut for Hanoi FC in the match against Ninh Binh in round 7 of V-League 2025-2026.

Hanoi FC announced that player Hendrio has officially received Vietnamese nationality, with the name Do Hoang Hen. Previously, the capital team supported the Brazilian player with naturalization procedures, and registered him as a domestic player in the first leg of the V-League.

Thus, in round 7 this weekend, in the match between Hanoi FC and Ninh Binh, Do Hoang Hen can play. This is his first match for the Hang Day home team, since leaving Nam Dinh Club.

Meanwhile, for the Vietnamese team, Hoang Hen will only be called up by coach Kim Sang Sik by the end of December. According to FIFA regulations, the player born in 1994 must have lived and worked in Vietnam for 5 years to be eligible to play for the national team.

If he plays well at Hanoi FC, Hoang Hen is likely to be called up to the Vietnam national team by coach Kim Sang Sik for the home match against Malaysia at the end of March 2026, in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

In the decisive match against Malaysia, in addition to Hoang Hen and the return of Xuan Son, Coach Kim Sang Sik can also call up another naturalized player, Gustavo Santos. The Korean strategist personally naturalized the central defender of Da Nang Club to strengthen the Vietnamese team.
