Rural collective economy development
In Vinh Hoa commune, CL Farm Agricultural Production, Trade and Service Cooperative sows the winter-spring rice crop using drones. Previously, people had to hire manual sowing, which was labor-intensive, costly in seeds, and uneven in rows. Now, in just a few hours, a field of dozens of hectares is completely sown.
Mr. Quach Hoang Giang, a member of the cooperative, shared: "My family has more than 5 hectares of rice land. Thanks to the support of machinery, it only takes one morning to sow rice, saving costs and labor."
Not only are CL Farm members supported in mass sowing using technology, they are also provided with quality seeds and fertilizers at preferential prices and are guided by technical staff in effective production processes.

CL Farm Agricultural Production, Trade and Service Cooperative and officials of Vinh Hoa Commune Economic Department visited the cooperative members about the rice sowing situation.
In Vinh Thuan commune, Lo Ren clean rice production and supply service cooperative has more than 150 members and 400 hectares of production land. The cooperative applies clean rice production process according to VietGAP standards, cooperates with 2 companies and 3 enterprises to purchase products at higher prices than the market. "Thanks to reducing input costs and having stable output, members have a profit of 50-60%/cong, about 3.5 million VND/cong", said Director of the Cooperative Nguyen Van Truong.
Not only rice, in U Minh Thuong commune, people also take advantage of banana growing to develop new products. The Kenh 10 Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative, directed by Ms. Tran Thi Vy, not only profits from bananas but also creates banana silk for handicrafts. “About 100kg of banana stems after harvest can produce 8kg of banana silk. With a price of about 130,000 VND/kg, the cooperative earns nearly 300 million VND per year,” Ms. Vy said.
Towards sustainable development
Communes in the Upper U Minh region have actively transformed their production models, established cooperatives and cooperative groups, linked with businesses, applied high technology to cultivation, and gradually formed large-scale fields and high-quality rice material areas. Thanks to this, people's income and living standards have been significantly improved.
However, there are still many difficulties, especially in accessing loans and linking product consumption. Mr. Quach Hoang Giang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CL Farm Cooperative, shared: "Because we have not been able to access preferential loans, we are limited in purchasing input materials. If we had capital, we could buy fertilizer and seeds at a much lower price than buying on credit, saving hundreds of thousands of VND per bag of fertilizer."
Furthermore, the linkage in purchasing agricultural products in some places is still loose. Even though contracts have been signed and deposits have been made, when the harvest season comes, many traders ask for price reductions or even forfeit their deposits if farmers do not agree.
Chairman of Vinh Thuan Commune People's Committee Huynh Ngoc Nguyen said: "The locality regularly surveys and listens to the opinions of cooperatives to promptly resolve difficulties, continue to support infrastructure, science and technology , and introduce reputable businesses to purchase products for people."
To limit the situation of traders violating contracts, abandoning deposits or forcing farmers to pay higher prices, Vice Chairman of Vinh Thuan Commune People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Trung said that he will direct the Commune Police to coordinate with the Economic Department to review the list of traders. "Cases without clear contracts or insufficient financial capacity will be recorded and handled. In addition, a list of reputable traders will be made public for people to easily choose," said Mr. Trung.
In addition, the commune also guides farmers to link production and consumption in a concentrated manner, with clear legal contracts between cooperatives and enterprises. Local authorities act as intermediaries to connect and provide market information so that people can grasp the actual price of rice and avoid being forced to pay lower prices.
