Yesterday (October 16), midfielder Hendrio Araujo officially became a Vietnamese citizen under the name Do Hoang Hen. According to FIFA regulations, by December 2025, Hendrio can start playing for the Vietnamese national team after having lived and worked in Vietnam for 5 years.

Hendrio’s addition is extremely necessary for the Vietnamese team at this time. In the last two matches against Nepal, the “Golden Star Warriors” played uncreatively and in a deadlocked manner. That made Vietnamese fans feel disappointed. Hendrio has the ability to control the rhythm and pass the ball very well.
Malaysian and Indonesian newspapers are worried that the Vietnamese team will soon have the service of Hendrio. Makan Bola (Malaysia) commented: “The naturalization of Hendrio can create a big turning point for the Vietnamese team. Coach Kim Sang Sik has another bright factor for the Vietnamese team in 2026.
Hendrio will help the Vietnamese team increase creativity in midfield. The player who grew up in Barcelona's training academy can make regional opponents, including the Malaysian team, wary."
Makan Bola newspaper admitted to being concerned if coach Kim Sang Sik called Hendrio up to the Vietnam national team to prepare for the match against Malaysia in March 2026. At that time, the "Golden Dragons" could field two dangerous naturalized players, Do Hoang Hen and Nguyen Xuan Son.

TV One News (Indonesia) also expressed concern when the Vietnamese team added Hendrio: “The Vietnamese team will add a naturalized player who was a student at Barcelona’s training academy. The presence of this player makes Indonesia especially wary when the two teams face each other.
Hendrio is a creative midfielder who can add what Vietnamese football is lacking. He will have the Vietnamese name Do Hoang Hen".
Meanwhile, Kompas newspaper listed a series of naturalized Vietnamese players such as Xuan Son, Cao Pendant Quang Vinh, Nguyen Xuan Son, Nguyen Filip, Viktor Le, Do Hoang Hen and possibly soon central defender Gustavo Santos of Da Nang Club.
Hendrio was born in 1994 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He played for Barcelona's youth team from 2006 to 2010. After that, he played for the youth teams of Real Betis and Recreativo de Huelva. He played for many European and South American clubs before coming to Vietnam in late 2020, playing for Binh Dinh Club. After that, Hendrio played for Nam Dinh Club from 2023 to 2025. In May this year, the 31-year-old star moved to Hanoi Club. He is one of the best attacking midfielders in the V-League in the past 5 years.
