After 10 days of carrying out the mission of rescue and relief from the earthquake disaster in Turkey, the working group of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam successfully completed the mission and returned home on February 19, 2023.
Reporting on the results of the Working Group, Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue, Ministry of Public Security - Head of the Working Group said that up to this point, the activities of the Working Group of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam participating in rescue in Turkey have been successful. The Group has deployed many professional measures, applied flexible tactics, used rescue vehicles, and completed the task at 3 locations as assigned by the other side. The Group has coordinated to rescue 1 survivor, and brought 14 victims' bodies out and handed them over to medical agencies. During the implementation of the task, the Group was recognized and highly appreciated for its professionalism and dedication to the work. The Group was assigned to search and rescue in difficult locations and where there may still be signs of life...
In addition, during the working process, the delegation presented nearly 2 tons of medical equipment supported by the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Response Agency (AFAD) and to the Department of Health of Adiyaman City, Turkey; visited, presented gifts, and encouraged people severely affected by the earthquake, including some Vietnamese families; and supported the other side in manufacturing items for daily use in deprived conditions such as making makeshift stoves for heating... The above results have demonstrated the bravery, humanity, and high professionalism, affirming the capacity to participate in and complete international missions of the Vietnamese Public Security force.
Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong also added that many families, many people, and some organizations came to the place where the Delegation was stationed to thank them. When volunteers were asked to move to another city, they were very attached to the Delegation... Through the Delegation's activities, it has contributed to strengthening the relationship between the two countries, and the friendship between the two peoples is growing.
During its mission, the Delegation received attention and smooth coordination from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the Vietnamese representative agency in Turkey and a number of relevant agencies; active coordination from local authorities, Turkish agencies and other international delegations.
Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Türkiye to Vietnam Devletsah Yayan expressed his respect and appreciation for the working delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security who bravely participated in search and rescue operations in the affected areas despite difficulties and hardships.
"Since February 6, when the earthquake occurred, we have received information from the Government and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam wanting to assist Turkey. Although the situation in the earthquake area is very difficult, the Ministry of Public Security has sent elite officers and soldiers to support" - the Deputy Ambassador emphasized.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quoc Hung acknowledged that despite facing many difficulties in terms of physical conditions and harsh climate, with the determination of officers and soldiers in carrying out the assigned tasks, the Ministry of Public Security's working group carrying out rescue work in Turkey has successfully completed the assigned tasks, contributing to enhancing the image and demonstrating the political commitment of the Party and State as a responsible member of the international community, ready to join hands to solve difficult and challenging problems and maintain a peaceful and stable environment for cooperation and development in the region and the world.
On behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee and the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung praised the sense of responsibility, combat readiness and bravery of the rescue force of the Ministry of Public Security, especially the working group of 24 officers and soldiers who participated in the rescue in Turkey recently. The Deputy Minister hopes that the officers and soldiers will promote the achieved results and continue to make more outstanding achievements in fire prevention and fighting and rescue work.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Public Security awarded Certificates of Merit to members of the Working Group. The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union awarded Certificates of Merit to 14 officers and soldiers who are members of the Youth Union. The Working Group was also awarded a Certificate of Merit by the President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society./.
