In Hanoi, the delegation visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; held talks with leaders of the Central External Relations Commission; had working sessions with leaders of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union , the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin; visited the Center for Nursing Victims of Agent Orange in Hanoi and Hoa Binh Village (Thanh Xuan).
The delegation also worked with the Provincial Party Committee leaders, visited a number of typical economic and agricultural production establishments, historical and cultural relics in Quang Ninh and Hung Yen.
Promoting cooperation and developing the Vietnam - US youth movement
This is the first official visit of CPUSA within the framework of the Party's "Hello Comrade" project to strengthen the friendly relations and connections between CPUSA and communist and workers' parties around the world . During their stay in Vietnam, the delegation learned about the situation in Vietnam, the Doi Moi policy, practices and experiences in party building, building socialism and socialist democracy in Vietnam; studied and researched Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle; discussed measures to enhance information exchange, experience sharing, and promote exchanges and friendship between the two parties and peoples.
The two sides also discussed the situation of the communist, workers' and peace movements in the US and around the world as well as a number of international and regional issues of mutual concern.
The CPUSA delegation expressed their joy in visiting Vietnam, expressed their gratitude for the welcome of Vietnamese agencies, and were impressed and admired the achievements of the Doi Moi process under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, especially in economic development along with ensuring social security and equality. The delegation emphasized that the good results that the Communist Party of Vietnam has brought to the country and people of Vietnam are a great spiritual encouragement for American communists and people.
The delegation also affirmed that it will spread good images and feelings about the country, people, history, culture and achievements of Vietnam in the cause of building, developing and defending the Fatherland to American friends and the world, thereby contributing to strengthening the good relationship and friendship between the people of the two countries.
In an exchange with the CPUSA delegation, the leaders of the Vietnamese agencies affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always appreciate the enthusiastic support and selfless assistance that the Communist Party, progressive people and friends of the United States have given to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation and reunification, as well as the current cause of national renovation, construction and protection; expressed gratitude for the CPUSA's support in overcoming the consequences of war and the Agent Orange/dioxin disaster in Vietnam as well as for the development of Vietnam-US relations; suggested that the two sides continue to maintain the traditional friendship, contributing to further strengthening the relationship between the two countries and peoples, for peace, friendship, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
