Vietnamese delegation attends the 75th FIFA Congress

(NLDO) - The delegation of the Vietnam Football Federation led by President Tran Quoc Tuan arrived in Asuncion, Paraguay to attend the 75th FIFA Congress.

On May 15, the delegation of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) led by President Tran Quoc Tuan arrived in Asuncion, Paraguay to attend the 75th FIFA Congress. Also attending the Congress were Vice President Tran Anh Tu and Deputy Secretary General Dinh Thi Thu Trang.

Within the framework of activities before the Congress, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan had meetings and exchanges with leaders of international football organizations, aiming to promote strategic cooperation activities.

Specifically, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan met with Mr. Frank Paauw, the new President of the Dutch Football Federation and the Secretary General of the Dutch Football Federation, Gijs de Jong. At the meeting, President Tran Quoc Tuan, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the VFF, congratulated Mr. Frank Paauw on his new position. The leaders of the Dutch Football Federation also expressed their interest and said they would study specific cooperation programs with the VFF in the coming time, especially in the field of youth football and women's football development.

In addition, VFF leaders also met with the President of the Ukrainian Football Federation, former football star Andriy Shevchenko, thereby suggesting cooperation programs towards the development of Vietnamese football in the coming time.

In particular, President Tran Quoc Tuan had an important exchange with President of the Brazilian Football Confederation Ednaldo Rodrigues, discussing the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between VFF and the Brazilian Football Confederation, signed last March during the State visit to Vietnam by President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Within the content of this Memorandum of Understanding, the two sides committed to strengthening cooperation in many areas to promote the development of Vietnamese and Brazilian football, emphasizing coordination in organizing regional and international football meetings and conferences; exchanging experts, coaches, and teams at all levels; and sharing experience in managing and organizing professional tournaments.

In addition, the MoU also covers support for the national teams of the two countries in training and friendly matches, as well as creating opportunities for youth teams (from U21 and below) to participate in international tournaments. Cooperation programs also include knowledge exchange activities in sports medicine, rehabilitation and football facility management.

The 75th FIFA Congress took place with the participation of representatives from more than 200 member associations around the world . This Congress not only marked the important milestone of the 100th anniversary of Paraguay joining FIFA, but also served as a forum for football associations around the world to discuss important issues related to the development of global football.

One of the key issues of the Congress was the adoption of a revised Disciplinary Code, which aims to strengthen the ability to deal with racist and abusive behaviour, with close coordination between the 211 member federations.

The Congress also approved new regulations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2025 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, ensuring the efficient and fair organisation of these tournaments.

In particular, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of FIFA, a special exhibition was held in Asuncion, displaying precious historical artifacts such as the Jules Rimet Cup, the Women's World Cup and the Copa America, to honor football heritage and inspire the younger generation.
