Mrs. Tam’s family is in a particularly difficult situation. Mrs. Tam is 70 years old, in poor health, and often sick. Her husband was a soldier, was exposed to Agent Orange, and passed away. She currently lives with her son, who is also a second-generation genetic victim of Agent Orange, her daughter-in-law, who is severely disabled, and a young grandchild. The old house built before 1990 has seriously deteriorated and is no longer safe.
Faced with that situation, Tra Co Border Guard Station proactively coordinated with the Party Committee and authorities of Binh Ngoc Ward to survey, propose and implement the construction of a new house for the family. The house has an area of 72m², with a total construction cost of more than 400 million VND, of which officers and soldiers of Tra Co Border Guard Station directly participated in supporting the work days for leveling the ground and supported 100 million VND from socialized sources. The house is expected to be built within 3 months.
This activity is part of a series of practical and humane actions by officers and soldiers of Tra Co Border Guard Station. Since 2020, the Station has supported the construction of 3 houses for households in particularly difficult circumstances in Tra Co and Binh Ngoc wards (Mong Cai City), with a total cost of nearly 400 million VND. The new houses not only help households reduce their difficulties, but are also a great source of spiritual encouragement, contributing to fostering trust in the Party, the State and the image of Border Guard soldiers in the hearts of the people.
With specific and humane gestures, Tra Co Border Guard Station continues to affirm its role as a solid support for the government and people in the coastal border area, contributing to the locality's effective implementation of the goal of "leaving no one behind" on the journey of sustainable development.
