Exploiting cultural values to attract tourists

In addition to the sea and island tourist destinations and bustling entertainment areas, many tourists have chosen cultural tourism to learn about the unique lifestyle and production of the indigenous people. Grasping this trend, in the summer of 2025, localities, businesses and people will continue to improve cultural tourism and community tourism products, as well as improve service quality to bring visitors meaningful experiences.

International tourists experience the life of fishermen at Vung Vieng fishing village on Ha Long Bay.

One of the newly put into operation cultural tourism areas that is loved by tourists is the San Diu Ethnic Cultural - Tourism Village (Van Don district). This is a land that preserves many unique traditional cultural features, from cuisine , costumes, Soong Co singing art, Dai Phan festival and wedding ceremonies, ancestor worship of the San Diu people. The highlight of the cultural village is the area displaying traditional costumes, wedding ceremonies, festivals, beliefs and typical handicrafts of the San Diu people. Special ceremonies, such as: Wedding ceremony, Dai Phan ceremony with knife climbing rituals, Hanh Quang dance are all vividly recreated through a system of 1.1 scale statues, sound, light and modern touch screens. Since its establishment in late December 2024, thousands of visitors have come to visit.

In addition, tourist attractions such as Yen Duc Village Tourist Area (Dong Trieu City) attract visitors with the rustic, simple scenery typical of the countryside in the Northern region. In particular, Yen Duc Village Tourist Area also bears the mark of a revolutionary countryside with historical and cultural relics such as Dong Thoc Mountain, Con Chuot Mountain, Con Meo Mountain, Canh Mountain, Hang 7, Canh Huong Pagoda... Not only enjoying the peaceful and quiet natural scenery of a purely agricultural village, coming to Yen Duc, visitors can also experience the daily life of farmers with activities such as: Growing vegetables, milling rice, pounding rice, tying straw brooms, catching fish in bamboo baskets, watching water puppetry, enjoying dishes imbued with the flavor of the homeland, learning about the customs, culture and life of local people.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thuan (tourist from Hanoi ) shared: I have been to many places, but the trip to Yen Duc village really left me with many emotions. I got to join in wrapping Chung cake, watch water puppetry right in the middle of the village, then pick vegetables and harvest rice like a real farmer. It felt like returning to my childhood, returning to my maternal hometown. The space was quiet, no noise, no dust - a very different travel experience in the era of industrialization. Yen Duc village tourist area is truly a place to rest, heal and feel the depth of Vietnamese culture. I will definitely come back with my family.

In recent years, the trend of cultural tourism has been attracting many tourists. In Co To district, most of the tourist groups when coming here visit the National Tourist Area of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial on Co To island. This place is pride, also a destination attracting many domestic and international tourists to visit and worship, is the first point for the journey to learn about the history and culture of Co To island.

Possessing over 600 historical, cultural and scenic relics along with many modern and impressive cultural destinations and works, Quang Ninh continues to affirm its position as the leading attractive cultural tourism destination in the country. The province also actively researches and organizes a series of special events to attract tourists. The most recent is the Ha Long Summer Tourism Week 2025 on the occasion of the April 30 - May 1 holiday, highlighted by the Ha Long Carnival Festival taking place on the evening of May 1 at Sun Carnival Square, Bai Chay Ward. The program converges intangible heritages from all three regions, honoring national identity on the background of world natural wonders combined with 3D mapping technology, lasers and modern light shows. During this holiday, Ha Long City welcomed nearly 652,000 visitors, equal to 123% over the same period in 2024. International visitors reached nearly 46,100, equal to 134% over the same period. Total revenue reached about 1,829 billion VND, equal to 156% compared to the same period in 2024. In the first 4 months of 2025, the city welcomed 3.3 million visitors and became the locality welcoming the top number of tourists in the country.

In 2025, the province plans to organize 170 programs, events, and activities to stimulate domestic and foreign tourism, including 24 national and international programs and 146 local programs. In the second quarter of 2025 alone, the tourism industry will organize 55 programs and events, including 25 programs, events, and activities to stimulate international, national, and provincial tourism. The activities are built on the unique characteristics of Quang Ninh. Thereby, striving to complete the goal of welcoming 5.3 million visitors; total tourism revenue is estimated at 14,720 billion VND in the second quarter of 2025.
