The program, organized by the Center for Asia- Pacific Regional Initiatives (CAPI), Victoria University in collaboration with UNDP Vietnam, brought together many leading Canadian professors and experts in the fields of law, public administration, education, equitable energy transition and environmental governance.

During the training course, Vietnamese delegates attended many thematic discussions on the legislative process of British Columbia, gender analysis and gender mainstreaming in policy making, application of technology in governance and training, public consultation and digital interaction, and policies for equitable energy transition and sustainable environmental governance.

In addition to the thematic discussion sessions, the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation met and worked with Mr. Rick Glumac, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and New Technology and Mr. Paul Choi, Chairman of the Asia- Pacific Trade Committee, British Columbia Parliament.

The two sides exchanged views on Canada's experience in developing a green economy and clean energy, promoting innovation, as well as enhancing women's participation in the digital economy and a just energy transition.

The delegation also met and worked with Ms. Anne Kang, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport of British Columbia. The two sides agreed to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, people-to-people exchange and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Canada in the coming time.

During the working sessions and exchanges, the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation shared information on Vietnam's socio-economic development situation, the role and activities of the National Assembly in legislation, supervision and decision-making on important issues of the country, along with outstanding results in implementing policies and laws on gender equality, women's empowerment and inclusive and sustainable development.

The delegation also attended a session of the British Columbia Parliament, visited Parliament House, the University of Victoria and several local cultural and educational facilities, thereby learning more about the parliamentary model and the way Canada's elected bodies operate.

The training program is an opportunity for National Assembly deputies and staff to assist National Assembly agencies to improve their professional capacity in gender analysis, community consultation skills, use of data and evidence in policy making, and at the same time strengthen cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and international partners in promoting gender equality, sustainable development and inclusive governance.
