Applying technology to business development

Currently, the province has more than 2,600 enterprises. In recent times, many enterprises in the province have focused on innovation and investment in advanced technological equipment in a number of industrial production sectors in which the province has advantages such as: Processing high-quality tea, manufacturing, processing wood for export, producing paper, steel, superfine stone powder; manufacturing bricks, super-functional concrete components... Currently, technological innovation activities in enterprises in our province focus on two basic contents: product innovation and production process innovation.

A typical example of product innovation is Dong Duong Wood Joint Stock Company (Ham Yen) with its investment in a finger joint production line. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh, Director of Dong Duong Wood Joint Stock Company, said that, realizing the potential of the open market for finger joint products, the Company has invested in building and installing a finger joint production line, including: a 2,700 m2 factory, 4 drying kilns, 1 high-frequency horizontal finger jointing machine, 2 double-sided planers, and a vertical finger jointing line.

The application of modern advanced technology and equipment in production has helped the company create new products with quality according to TCVN 11205:2015 (ISO 13609:2014) standards to meet the requirements of wooden furniture production; increase productivity, save costs, thereby reducing product prices.

Dong Duong Wood Joint Stock Company applies modern machinery systems in the production of finger jointed boards.

At Song Lo Tea Joint Stock Company, the company has innovated applied technology and improved the automated production line in the production of high-quality green tea for domestic consumption and export. Mr. Vu Duc Trang, Deputy General Director of Song Lo Tea Joint Stock Company, said that the company currently has 440 hectares of tea material areas in Tuyen Quang city and Yen Son and Na Hang districts. Every year, the company sells 3,500 - 4,000 tons of tea to the market, with a revenue of over 100 billion VND/year. The company has invested in installing an OTD black tea production line, rolling machine, GTS 1200B color separator, automatic drying and packaging preservation system. The produced tea products meet the requirements of QRS according to ISO 22000:2018 standards.

This has helped the company's black tea products stand firm when exported to Middle Eastern countries.

Thanks to technological innovation, many businesses have taken advantage of production materials, diversified products, improved productivity and quality, such as: Vinh An Company Limited invested in a brick production line using a flat-ceiling tunnel kiln with a capacity of 15 million bricks/year and an automatic brick cutting system, brick arranging robot; Tue Tam Herbal Company Limited invested in factories and machinery and equipment systems for preliminary processing and production of medicinal herbs, such as: Medicinal herb extraction pots, essential oil distillation pots, medicinal herb dryers, tea bag production machines, medicinal herb grinders; Son Duong Greenfarm Company Limited invested in a greenhouse system applying Israeli drip irrigation technology with an area of ​​over 8,000 m2 to produce good quality agricultural products, beautiful designs and meet market demand...

Enterprises are the center of innovation

Enterprises are the center of the innovation system, an important factor in influencing the effectiveness of technology application, transfer and innovation activities in the province. However, the results of technology innovation of enterprises in the province still have many issues of concern when the number of enterprises innovating and improving technology is not much, financial resources are still limited, so technology innovation activities are still not strong.

With the management function, from 2020 to present, the Department of Science and Technology has advised the Provincial People's Committee to approve support for 9 enterprises to carry out technological innovation and scientific research with a total budget of nearly 2 billion VND; advised the Ministry of Science and Technology to approve 9 enterprises to take charge of implementing 9 projects under the Rural and Mountainous Areas Program with a total central budget of nearly 46 billion VND; 5 enterprises and cooperatives to take charge of implementing provincial-level science and technology topics and projects with a total budget of 3.7 billion VND. Through the implementation of topics and projects, hundreds of models of applying scientific and technological advances have been built; about 120 new and advanced technological processes suitable for people and businesses have been transferred.

To date, the province has 397 products and services protected by industrial property rights; of which 80 key agricultural products and specialties have been granted Trademark Protection Certificates and 4 products have been granted Geographical Indication Registration Certificates; 2 products have achieved National Brand.

Thanks to the early introduction of German and Taiwanese wood processing production lines, closed from raw materials to products, Woodsland Tuyen Quang Joint Stock Company has successfully produced wood products and furniture with raw materials that are processed, dried, impregnated, and shaped into bars to serve the production of finished products according to requirements, with a capacity of 2,500 - 3,000 m3 of wood/year. In the coming time, the enterprise plans to invest in expanding the production of a wood processing factory in Thang Quan commune (Yen Son) with a factory area of ​​28 hectares, a factory design capacity of 150,000 m3 of products/year. Thanks to technological innovation, in 2024, the company will have 2 products achieving the National Brand: Woodsland flooring and Woodsland interior and exterior wooden furniture.

In the context of increasingly fierce competition and strong development of science and technology, technological innovation is a key factor to help enterprises improve production capacity, create added value and affirm their position in the market. To achieve this goal, there needs to be close support and companionship from all levels, sectors and localities through appropriate policies and clear orientations to encourage enterprises to boldly invest and apply advanced and modern technology. At the same time, enterprises themselves need to proactively self-assess their capacity, develop technological innovation strategies and continuously improve to meet market requirements.
