Ms. Trinh Viet Tam, Deputy Head of the Department of Population - Communication and Health Education, Phu Tan Regional Medical Center said: Since the beginning of the year, Phu Tan Regional Medical Center has issued more than 70 directive documents and plans, creating a legal corridor and practical basis for commune and town health stations to implement synchronously. Population work in the locality has recorded many positive results.
In the past 9 months, the district had 746 children born, with a sex ratio at birth of 103.8 boys/100 girls, within the control threshold. Communication work on gender equality and reproductive health care continued to spread in the community through club activities, thematic talks and broadcasts on mass media.
In addition to controlling the scale, Phu Tan pays special attention to improving the quality of the population. Prenatal and newborn screening activities are implemented synchronously , more than 115 pregnant women were screened with ultrasound, 348 cases of blood tests to detect early abnormalities; 379 newborns had heel blood tested, no abnormal cases were detected. This is a positive signal in building a healthy future generation.
At the same time, the health care of the elderly is increasingly focused on. The health care project for the elderly continues to affirm its effectiveness. More than 10,000 elderly people have received periodic health check-ups, thousands of chronic diseases have been consulted and treated; nearly 230 cases that cannot go to medical facilities have been examined at home by medical staff. The care of this vulnerable population group demonstrates comprehensive concern, contributing to improving social security.
For adolescents and young people, many pre-marital health examination and counseling activities have been implemented, helping young people equip themselves with knowledge and skills to build happy and sustainable families. Meanwhile, health communication and education has made remarkable progress, with nearly 700 direct communication sessions attracting more than 2,000 people to participate, along with hundreds of news and radio broadcasts on population and health topics.
Ms. Trinh Viet Tam, Deputy Head of the Department of Population - Communication and Education and Health, affirmed: Population and development work in Phu Tan does not stop at managing population size, but also aims to improve the quality of human resources, care for public health and ensure social security. In the coming time , Phu Tan Regional Medical Center will focus on strengthening the supervision of facilities implementing population targets, standardizing data on grassroots health management software . At the same time, strengthen communication and organize communication in response to anniversaries such as World Contraception Day, International Day of Older Persons, Vietnam Population Day ... to improve management efficiency, as well as create changes in community awareness, thereby improving population quality and aiming for sustainable development goals.
