Vietnam women's futsal team ready to conquer the 2025 Asian Futsal Finals

The 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship will take place from May 6 to 17 in Inner Mongolia (China), with the participation of 12 leading teams in the region. In this year's tournament, the Vietnamese women's futsal team is in Group B, along with the teams: Iran, Hong Kong (China) and the Philippines. Looking at the situation in this group, the Iranian women's futsal team (ranked 9th in the world ) is considered the strongest opponent of the Vietnamese women's futsal team. The Vietnamese women's futsal team is currently the team with the highest ranking (ranked 11th) on the FIFA rankings of Vietnamese football teams. Not only that, in 2024, the Vietnamese women's futsal team made a strong impression after defeating the Thai team (the number 1 team in Southeast Asia) in the final match of the Southeast Asian Futsal Championship to win the championship. Therefore, Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team have every right to be confident in passing the group stage, even advancing deep into the semi-finals of the Asian futsal tournament, aiming to win 1 of 3 historic tickets to the 2025 FIFA Women's Futsal World Cup Finals.

Before entering the official matches of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship, the Vietnamese women's futsal team had very useful training and friendly matches in Japan and China. Although the results of the team's friendly matches were not good (losing 1-4 to Japan, losing 3-4 in the penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw with China), Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team have learned many valuable experiences and lessons to prepare for the upcoming confrontation.

In the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship, 12 teams are divided into 3 groups (A, B, C) to compete in a round-robin format, selecting the top 2 teams in each group and the 2 third-placed teams with the best results to enter the quarterfinals. In Group B, except for the Iranian women's futsal team, which is clearly superior with 2 championships (2015, 2018), the remaining 2 opponents are Hong Kong (China) and the Philippines, the Vietnamese futsal girls can completely win. According to experts, Group B is not a difficult group for the Vietnamese futsal girls. Specifically, the team has faced Iran and the Philippines in friendly tournaments and the Southeast Asian championship and has had good results. Notably, the Vietnam women's futsal team won 6-1 against the Philippines at the Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship (November 2024) and drew 2-2 against Iran in a friendly match (July 2024). In the opening match of Group B, the Vietnam women's futsal team will face the Hong Kong women's futsal team. Although the two have never met before, this is not a very strong opponent (ranked 31st in the world).

According to the regulations, the 2025 FIFA Women's Futsal World Cup Finals, the Asian region has 4 places to participate. Because the Philippines is the host country, in case this team is eliminated from the 2025 Asian Women's Semi-Finals, the 3 teams with the best results in the tournament including: 2 teams in the finals and 1 team winning the 3rd place match will win tickets to the World Cup. If the Philippines reaches the semi-finals, of course all 4 teams in the Asian Women's Futsal Finals will qualify for the World Cup. Therefore, the goal of the Vietnamese women's futsal team is to at least enter the top 4 strongest teams in this tournament, a challenging journey ahead.
