Tran Island Border Guard Station: Propaganda against IUU fishing for fishermen

Implementing the direction of superiors on strengthening the prevention and combat of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, on May 26, Tran Island Border Guard Station (Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard) organized direct propaganda to 150 fishermen on vessels anchored and operating in the waters and islands managed by the unit.

Officers of Tran Island Border Guard Station presented national flags to fishermen in the island waters under their management.

Accordingly, officers and soldiers of the Station went to each vehicle to distribute leaflets and propagate to fishermen the legal regulations related to IUU; pointed out common violations and sanctions, and at the same time guided and mobilized fishermen to sign a commitment not to violate, especially not to encroach on foreign waters for illegal exploitation.

On this occasion, the Station presented 50 national flags to fishermen, contributing to spreading patriotism and affirming the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland's sea and islands.

Propaganda activities aim to raise awareness and self-consciousness of fishermen in complying with the law in fishing, contributing to building an increasingly strong people's border defense posture.
