This evening and tonight (January 27), this cold air mass will affect the Northeast region, then the Northwest, North Central and some places in the Central Central region. Northeast winds inland will gradually strengthen to level 2-3, coastal areas level 4, gusting to level 5-6.

Due to the influence of cold air, the North and Thanh Hoa continue to experience severe cold; Nghe An and Ha Tinh areas are severely cold; from Quang Binh to Thua Thien Hue it is cold.

During this cold air mass, the lowest temperature in the North and Thanh Hoa is generally from 8-11 degrees, in the mountainous areas of the North from 4-7 degrees, in the high mountainous areas below 3 degrees in some places; Nghe An and Ha Tinh from 11-13 degrees; Quang Binh to Thua Thien Hue from 13-16 degrees.

However, this cold spell quickly ended when the sun began to appear again on January 30, causing the temperature across the region to increase sharply, to 20 degrees. After that, it was only cold at night and in the morning; daytime temperatures could reach 24-25 degrees, with sunshine.

Meteorological experts predict that in the days before and during the 2024 Lunar New Year, there will be another cold spell, but it is not forecast to be as strong as the current one.
