Attending were Vice Chairman of Ben Tre City People's Council Pham Dong Thuan, Vice Chairman of Ben Tre City People's Committee Nguyen Truc Lam, Chairman of Provincial Business Association Tran Van Duc. With the presence of about 25 businessmen from enterprises located in Ben Tre City. Here, Chairman of Provincial Business Association Tran Van Duc shared remarkable information about the activities of the Provincial Business Association in the context of merging administrative units, abolishing district level, and establishing 2-level government.

In response to the interest of many enterprises in the province wanting to know the direction of operation of the Provincial Business Association after the administrative unit merger, how will it be reorganized? Mr. Tran Van Duc said that the administrative unit merger will lead to the Ben Tre Provincial Business Association no longer existing as before, but will be reorganized in a consultative manner. Specifically, the three provinces of Ben Tre, Tra Vinh and Vinh Long will jointly establish the Vinh Long Provincial Business Association, divided into three branches located in each province. Each branch will have a Permanent Vice President to ensure the operation and connection of local businesses.

The merger is not a “dissolution” but a reorganization to become stronger, more effective, and more in line with the new administrative structure. The district and city levels no longer exist, so the Association system will be organized from the provincial to the communal level, ensuring connectivity, close to the locality, and practically serving businesses.

Talking about the essential role of business associations in the current context, Chairman of the Provincial Business Association Tran Van Duc said that in the context of complex global economic fluctuations, geo-economic and geopolitical changes, wars in Eastern Europe and the Middle East causing increased transportation and logistics costs, supply chain disruptions, and price escalation, small and medium enterprises in Ben Tre need more companionship, sharing, and connection through the association to overcome difficulties. Because the Association is a place to support management, technology, market information, and a fulcrum to connect with the government and the financial and banking system.

Expectations for growth

Currently, the business situation is facing many difficulties due to global economic fluctuations, inflation, and war. However, new policies such as Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo, issued on May 4, 2025 on private economic development and Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo dated December 22, 2024 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation have created opportunities for businesses to develop, especially private businesses. According to Mr. Tran Van Duc, this is a great source of motivation to help private businesses affirm their role as the main force promoting the country's economic development, instead of being considered just "a component" as before.

As a businessman who has had the opportunity to travel to many places, Chairman of the Provincial Business Association Tran Van Duc - Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Ben Tre Coconut Investment Joint Stock Company shared: " The private economy is expected to contribute about 55% of the total development of the economy, therefore, enterprises need to focus on good governance, effective management, knowing how to seize opportunities and make good use of new policy support from the state for sustainable growth".

In addition, in response to businesses' concerns about the new tax policy that will be applied from July 1, 2025, causing some stores to close, Mr. Duc affirmed that it was a misunderstanding or lack of information. He said that many places apply smart, transparent revenue management by digitization, without using cash, thereby creating a healthy competitive environment, controlling counterfeit goods and toxic foods.

It is known that some new tax policies will be applied from July 1, 2025 such as: Law on Value Added Tax takes effect; Personal identification number replaces personal tax code; Decentralization and decentralization of tax management; Instructions for declaring and paying business tax on e-commerce platforms.

Chairman of the Provincial Business Association Tran Van Duc expressed great expectations for the Ben Tre business community, asking businesses to maintain an aggressive spirit, boldly reorganize the association, and learn from the model of mutual support. The role of the Provincial Business Association will continue to support businesses to overcome difficulties and take advantage of new opportunities.

In a private sharing with Dong Khoi Newspaper readers about the future of Ben Tre's coconut industry, Chairman of the Provincial Business Association Tran Van Duc - Chairman of the Board of Directors, and General Director of Ben Tre Coconut Investment Joint Stock Company (Beinco) said: "The merger of the three provinces of Vinh Long, Ben Tre, and Tra Vinh brings many benefits to the coconut industry, especially expanding the coconut growing area from 79,000 hectares (Ben Tre) to 120,000 hectares (when merging both Tra Vinh and Vinh Long). Ben Tre is currently the coconut capital of Vietnam, with the largest coconut processing industry in the country. The expansion of space will help businesses develop raw material areas in Tra Vinh and Vinh Long, creating favorable conditions for the coconut processing industry of Ben Tre and Vinh Long in the future. Merging administrative units is a very favorable policy for the development of the long-term vision of the Vietnamese coconut industry".
