Dong Nai plans to start construction of 13 social housing projects in 2025

According to the report of the Department of Construction, in the period of 2021-2025, the Provincial Party Committee and People's Council set a target of building at least 10,000 social housing units. In 2025, the Prime Minister assigned the province to complete more than 2,600 social housing units. By the end of 2024, the province will complete nearly 1,700 units. Thus, from now until the end of the year, the province must start construction of more than 8,300 units, of which more than 2,600 units will be completed.

Through working with the Department of Construction, investors reported that this year they plan to start construction on 13 social housing projects, with a scale of nearly 13,000 apartments. Currently, 7/13 projects have no more problems, 6/13 projects still have some problems such as: environmental licensing, environmental impact assessment reporting procedures, site clearance, land allocation procedures, adjustment of 1/500 planning, zoning planning, etc.

At the meeting, representatives of social housing project investors reported specifically the expected start time and some problems that need to be resolved by departments, branches and localities to meet the conditions for starting construction.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha requested that investors of social housing projects that are no longer entangled in legal procedures must speed up the construction progress and strive to complete the construction of the shell before December 31, 2025.

For projects with remaining problems, departments, branches and localities must closely coordinate and support investors to resolve problems related to land, site, and planning; at the same time, investors must be required to make a critical path plan, with a commitment to the start time and the completion time of the rough construction when the problems are resolved.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the current demand for social housing in the province is very urgent, especially in localities such as Bien Hoa, Long Thanh, Nhon Trach. In the future, when the province is officially merged, thousands of civil servants from Binh Phuoc will come to work in Dong Nai, this demand will increase even more. The rapid implementation of these projects is not only a political task but also a solution to contribute to ensuring social security, ensuring sustainable socio-economic development of the province. Therefore, departments, branches, localities, investors must share responsibility with the provincial leaders to carry out this task.
