At 10:00 a.m. on October 12, flight BRU 8197 of Belavia (Belarusian Airlines) landed at Phu Quoc International Airport. This is the first direct flight taking tourists from the capital Minsk (Belarus) to the pearl island.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Standing Deputy Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - said that the opening of the flight route today has profound significance as Phu Quoc will be the host of the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum in 2027 (APEC 2027).

The Minsk - Phu Quoc flight route opens up new cooperation opportunities, shortening the distance between Southeast Asia and Central and Eastern Europe, bringing Belarusian tourists, businesses and investors closer to Vietnam.

Vietnamese goods, agricultural products and industrial products will reach the Belarusian and European markets more easily.

In addition, this flight route is also a symbol of effective cooperation, spreading the image of the country and people of Vietnam as friendly, dynamic and hospitable.

"Phu Quoc International Airport and relevant agencies need to create the most favorable conditions for airlines and tourists, contributing to linking, promoting and boosting trade and investment between Vietnam and Belarus," Mr. Nhan suggested.
