The common impression of many tourists when visiting museums in Europe is a solemn atmosphere, with people quietly observing artifacts and chatting softly.
However, some museums are trying to break that image, moving towards a more interactive, lively approach.

In an effort to make learning about history less dry and unapproachable, one museum in Germany has chosen a completely unconventional direction.
At the Kunstpalast museum in Düsseldorf, home to Europe’s largest glass collection, visitors can sign up for a tour led by Joseph Langelinck, nicknamed “the cranky tour guide.”
This special tour is advertised by the museum as “extremely annoying”. The “grumpy tour guide” accompanies guests for 70 minutes and costs £6 per person (about 210,000 VND).
The museum's official website has a pretty detailed description of this male tour guide. He is introduced as someone who knows everything about the museum. More importantly, he also has a pretty good understanding of the general psychology of visitors. Therefore, Joseph's attitude when expressing himself often shows annoyance, boredom and arrogance.

“The guide’s frustration is often directed at certain artists and works. He also tends to notice and monitor visitors’ lack of knowledge. So beware of the ‘grumpy guide’!”, the museum says about the tour.
It is known that throughout the trip, Joseph continuously yelled and reminded tourists if they sat down, showed signs of inattention or just glued their eyes to their phone screens.
Despite his rough-hewn style, the tour guide has become an unexpected phenomenon at the museum. Despite high demand, the museum only offers this tour twice a month. Since its launch in May, all tickets have been sold out.
Now, those wanting to sign up for the "grumpy tour guide" tour will have to wait until next year.
Performance artist Carl Brandi, who plays “grumpy tour guide Joseph,” says he always tries to live up to his role. Despite his outward appearance of being difficult and often yelling at guests, he sticks to the principle of never directly insulting an individual based on their personality or appearance.
"I usually just scold the whole group of guests. My main target is their missing knowledge," he said.
Felix Krämer, director of the Kunstpalast museum, came up with the idea of inviting Brandi to play the role of “grumpy tour guide” partly because of the trend of “rude service” restaurants that have been spreading rapidly on social networks in the UK recently. When coming to this restaurant, customers are served by rude and impolite staff.
The restaurant is famous for its slogan “Good food, terrible service”. In it, staff are asked to constantly mock customers. However, some videos shared on social media have caused controversy because the staff are said to be behaving “too much”.
However, the “grumpy guide” tour at the Kunstpalast museum received positive feedback. After 70 minutes of shouting and constant photo-taking, most visitors seemed to enjoy it.
"I found him very humorous and intelligent," a tourist shared his feelings while participating in the tour.
