In the first six months of 2025, the city welcomed more than 6.3 million visitors, over 2.7 million guests staying; revenue reached about 5,450 billion VND.
This result contributes to the successful implementation of Resolution No. 25/NQ-CP dated February 5, 2025 of the Government on "growth targets of local sectors and fields to ensure the national growth target in 2025 reaches 8% or more;" creating momentum for growth in the following years, meeting the requirements of accelerated and breakthrough development of the tourism industry in line with the development roadmap of the economy in the era of national development.
Ms. Le Dinh Minh Thy, Director of Viettravel Company , Can Tho Branch, said that since the beginning of 2025, Viettravel has built tour products and tourism stimulus packages; contributing to increasing the number of visitors and revenue for the city.
The company focuses on building diverse stimulus products to attract customers from other regions, especially tourists in the Central and Northern regions. To promote tourism stimulus in the coming time, Viettravel Can Tho Branch continues to deploy specific Timelines; build seasonal stimulus products suitable for each time.
The unit is committed to continuing to maintain and develop a variety of tourism stimulus products in the future; thereby, helping Can Tho tourism in particular and the Mekong Delta in general to develop to its full potential.
According to the Can Tho City Tourism Association, from July 1, 2025, after merging 3 localities (including: old Can Tho city, old Hau Giang and old Soc Trang), the new Can Tho city will have an area of about 6,300km2, a population of over 4 million people and 103 communes and wards.

This is a major turning point to expand development space, enrich resources, identity, human resources and raw material areas for tourism development.
After the merger, the city has Can Tho International Airport, large cargo ports, and many festivals imbued with the Southern identity. In addition, the system of accommodation facilities is rich, with 3-5 star hotels fully meeting the needs of events, cultural activities, and major festivals...
These factors contribute to creating a new and diverse development space for Can Tho tourism in the coming time. Mr. Truong Van Vinh, Director of Ido Travel, Permanent Vice President of Can Tho City Tourism Association, proposed that the city's leaders should promote inviting large investors to build regional and national-scale tourist areas and destinations.
At the same time, the locality focuses on planning the space to develop night tourism products such as cuisine, shopping areas, and shows to serve tourists to create highlights; promote connections with provinces and cities through flights and complete major ports so that cruise ships can bring international visitors to Can Tho.
According to Mr. Truong Van Vinh, to stimulate tourism, the locality needs to promote the connection of quality tourism service chains, build linked products from local strengths, create distinct highlights on each product line such as river tourism, festival tourism, pilgrimage tourism. At the same time, the city strengthens connections with provinces in the region to create more products in new conditions.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Suong, General Director of Hai Au Can Tho Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Company Limited, said that in the new space of the city, with the diversity of natural resources, culture and cuisine, travel agencies will have many opportunities to innovate and improve the quality of tourism products.
Based on indigenous cultural resources, units need to integrate stories, delve into culture, people, and land to create unique features.
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, Dao Thi Thanh Thuy, emphasized that entering a new development phase, the Department determined that it was necessary to further promote sustainable tourism development; at the same time, promote tourism stimulus activities.
The Department has coordinated with the City Tourism Association and tourism businesses to develop, organize and announce a stimulus program; mobilize more than 150 service product packages and tourism stimulus tours from businesses, accommodation establishments, restaurants, destinations, and entertainment services, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and attracting tourists to Can Tho and neighboring provinces.
In the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will advise the People's Committee of Can Tho City to deploy the Plan to implement the Tourism System Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045; implement the Plan to survey tourist destinations and tourism products in the area; participate in tourism connection groups, survey the model of managing floating markets serving tourism in Thailand; promote Can Tho city tourism at the World Exhibition EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai (Japan)...
In addition, the Department promotes digital transformation, tourism promotion; enhances the effectiveness of linkage and cooperation in tourism development between Can Tho city and localities to form and develop new products./.
