Tourists flock to Hanoi for National Day
On the occasion of National Day September 2 this year, Hanoi has become the tourist center of the country when organizing a large-scale military parade at Ba Dinh Square. Along with a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, the capital will welcome a sudden increase in the number of visitors.
Based on the number of customers booking services, directors of travel companies have a common prediction that there will be a “landing” of customers coming to Hanoi on September 2, especially from the Southern region. Deputy General Director of Viet Tourism Company Pham Anh Vu said that the demand for booking tours on September 2 this year has increased by about 20-25% compared to the same period last year. Many customers have planned since June to reserve hotels near event venues such as the area around Ba Dinh Square, the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, etc., which are almost fully booked very early.
Similarly, Vietluxtour Travel Marketing and Communications Director Tran Thi Bao Thu said that the parade event on the occasion of the 80th National Day held at Ba Dinh Square was promoted early, so it attracted many tourists to book tours. "Currently, the number of Southern tourists booking tours and services to Hanoi on September 2 increased by 40% compared to the same period last year, of which 60% of customers booked package tours" - Ms. Thu shared.
Deputy Director of Viet Ha Noi Tourism Pham Quoc Khanh said that tours related to Hanoi, especially those combining participation in military parades and exploring nearby destinations, account for about 30-40% of total domestic tourism products. This figure is significantly higher than the average of 20-25% in the same period of previous years.
Data from online hotel booking platform Agoda shows that Hanoi is leading the travel trend during the National Day holiday on September 2, with the number of accommodation searches increasing more than 44 times compared to 2024. Many hotels in the city center have displayed the status of "no more rooms available" from August 30 to September 3. A representative of Van Mieu Hotel on Quoc Tu Giam Street said that although it is early August, guests have fully booked rooms for September 2. Similarly, Eli Rina Hotel (Nguyen Khuyen Street, about 1 km from Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum) currently has only 1 double room left on the night of August 31, and is fully booked on September 1 and 2.
Analyzing the reasons why Hanoi has become a tourist attraction during the National Day holiday on September 2, Agoda representative said that this great attraction comes from the need to watch the parade and celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day. Not only groups of tourists, many families and groups of young people also take advantage of the long holiday to enjoy the historical and festive atmosphere in the capital.
Tourism launches "tricks" to attract visitors
Grasping the new needs of tourists, travel companies have launched many tours specifically designed for the occasion of National Day. Not only tour companies, Hanoi destinations are also planning to welcome visitors for this year's National Day holiday. Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that this year's September 2 holiday is expected to attract a large number of tourists to the capital.
Hanoi tourism industry has prepared early to bring memorable experiences to tourists. Specifically, Hanoi tourism industry has launched many new tourism products such as the "South Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Road" tour, Dao people's leaf bath tour in Ba Vi village, and rural agricultural tourism in Tich Loc commune (old), now Phuc Tho commune (Hanoi city).
Hanoi Tourism also operates high-quality night trains: Sjourney Train, Hoa Phuong Do (Hanoi - Hai Phong culinary tour), and the tourist train named "Nam Cua O" departing from August 19, 2025. The city will also organize the Hanoi Beverage Festival 2025 from August 29 to September 2 at Thong Nhat Park, providing a space to enjoy typical drinks, contributing to promoting the quintessence of the capital's cuisine and beverages.
According to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu, this year's tourism stimulus program will maximize the advantages of transportation to create a connecting tourism corridor. A series of river tourism routes such as the Red River and Duong River have been planned to connect Hanoi with Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Bac Ninh, and Hai Phong. Hanoi's tourism space will also be expanded to suburban areas such as Ba Vi, My Duc, Soc Son, etc., helping to extend the length of stay and increase spending of tourists.
“With the strategy of developing night products, combining heritage - agriculture - community - river tourism and culinary festivals, Hanoi not only welcomes visitors on National Day but also aims for a long-term goal: creating a smart, diverse and quality tourism ecosystem. People and tourists will have the opportunity to experience heritage in new ways, businesses can develop sustainably with the locality, and the city will promote a civilized and modern image while still imbued with the identity of Thang Long - Hanoi” - Mr. Tran Trung Hieu emphasized.
