Agricultural tourism - new driving force for tourism industry in Thua Thien Hue province

Recently, in Thua Thien Hue province, in the "Vietnam Farmstay Journey", the Vietnam Farmstay delegation with representatives from the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Tourism, the Real Estate Development Center (RED Center) coordinated with the Department of Tourism, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Institute for Development Studies of Thua Thien Hue province to organize a talk show "Agricultural tourism - a new driving force for the tourism industry of Thua Thien Hue province" with the purpose of exchanging, discussing, resolving difficulties and finding directions for developing agricultural tourism in the province.

At the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Director of the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue province, said that in recent years, orienting the development of the country and the region towards sustainability has been a top priority. In particular, agricultural tourism is a new industry with great potential, which can become a boost to promote the sustainable development of the local economy.

Also at the event, expert Pham Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Tourism, shared the definition and notes on the agricultural tourism model. According to Mr. Pham Thanh Tung, Vietnam has great potential for developing agricultural tourism such as climate, soil, biology... This is a strong internal force contributing to making Vietnam become the leading country in the region in agricultural tourism.

On this occasion, farm owners and community tourism businesses discussed local agricultural tourism models to connect with the Trans-Vietnam Farmstay group.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy, owner of Phuong Van Farm, Dak Nong and Ms. Dinh Thi Duong, owner of MuongLo Farmstay, Yen Bai shared about their agricultural tourism models. These are two typical models with certain successes in the field of agricultural tourism.

Mr. Tran Trung, Owner of Edufarm Hue tourist area, representing businesses implementing agricultural tourism models, discussed the current status of the model and the potential of Hue agricultural tourism. Ms. Luong Thi Hien - Tam Giang Quang Loi Tourism Cooperative shared the model of aquaculture combined with eco-tourism development in Ngu My Thanh. Mr. Mai Dinh Sac, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Thuy An Agricultural Cooperative, shared about the eco-tourism resort service at Suoi Tien - Thuy Tien Lake.

According to Mr. Dang Minh Nam - Deputy Director of the Institute for Development Studies of Thua Thien Hue province, in response to the Government's new rural development policies, the city government has had policies to support agricultural development, tourism development associated with agriculture and rural areas... to support people and businesses.

“The agricultural tourism model does not have a clear legal framework, making investment difficult and ambiguous. We hope that businesses will share their difficulties and work with the government to resolve them, thereby developing the agricultural tourism model in Thua Thien Hue province,” said Mr. Cung Trong Cuong, Director of the Institute for Development Studies of Thua Thien Hue province.

Mr. Tran Dinh Tu - Chairman of Vietnam Eco-Village Company commented that in the investment process, the province currently does not have a clear legal framework, causing many problems in the investment process, causing difficulties for investors. Mr. Tu proposed that it is necessary to introduce policies on pilot models, selecting some outstanding and effective models to support and promote development.

At the workshop, the difficulties and problems of enterprises were received by local leaders and solutions were sought for the future. At the same time, solutions were also proposed to complete the legal corridor for the agricultural tourism model.
