Tallinn is a great destination for those who love history and ancient architecture. Tallinn Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the best preserved old towns in Europe. The city is also known for its rich cuisine, diverse museums and vibrant arts scene.

2.1. Tallinn Old Town

Tallinn Old Town is the heart of the city, where you can spend a whole day exploring . The area is divided into two parts: the Upper Town (Toompea) and the Lower Town. The Old Town is surrounded by a 1.9km long wall with 26 watchtowers, creating a fairytale-like scene. Stroll through the small cobblestone streets and you will be captivated by the beauty of medieval buildings, ancient churches and cozy cafes.

2.2. St. Catherine Street

St. Catherine Street is one of the oldest and most beautiful streets in Tallinn. Located in the heart of the old town, this street is famous for its traditional craft shops. This is where you can watch artisans at work and shop for unique handmade products such as pottery, leather goods, jewelry and wool. The architecture on St. Catherine Street is also very diverse, from medieval wooden houses to Gothic stone buildings.

2.3. City Hall Square

Town Hall Square is the heart of the Lower Town and the venue for many important events in Tallinn. The highlight of the square is the 13th-century Gothic town hall, considered the oldest town hall in the Baltic and Scandinavia. You should also not miss the Old Pharmacy, believed to be the oldest pharmacy in Europe, operating since 1422. In winter, the square is also home to the famous Christmas market.

2.4. Toompea Castle

Toompea Castle, located on Toompea Hill, has been a symbol of political power in Estonia since the 13th century. The castle has a diverse architectural style, combining many styles from the Middle Ages to the Baroque. The highlight of the castle is the Pikk Hermann Tower, where the Estonian flag is flown. Today, Toompea Castle is the seat of the Estonian Parliament.

2.5. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is an impressive Orthodox structure, located opposite the Estonian Parliament building. The church is notable for its Byzantine architecture, five distinctive onion domes and a set of 11 bells, including a 15-ton bell. The interior of the church is also very splendid with many precious paintings and decorations.

2.6. Kohtuotsa Observation Deck and Patkuli Observatory

These are two of Tallinn’s most popular viewpoints, located on Toompea Hill. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the old town with its red roofs, church towers and Tallinn Harbour. They are also great places for photos, especially at sunset. Both are free to enter.
Telliskivi Creative City
Telliskivi is Estonia’s largest creative complex, located in a renovated former industrial area. It is the center of Tallinn’s contemporary art and hipster culture. You can find many galleries, art studios, vintage fashion stores and unique restaurants here. Every Saturday, Telliskivi hosts a flea market, where you can find unique vintage items.

2.7. Kadriorg Palace

Kadriorg Palace is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture, built by Tsar Peter the Great of Russia for his wife. The palace is notable for its magnificent Baroque architecture, elaborate decorations and beautiful frescoes. Today, the palace houses Estonia's collection of foreign art. Surrounding the palace is a large park with well-kept gardens, ideal for strolling and relaxing.
