Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong said that he will pilot the integration of AI into the general education program from the end of this year.

In Korea, since 2023, the Ministry of Education has piloted the use of AI for elementary school students and recorded that 30% of students have achieved effectiveness in personalization.

In Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Training is implementing two very important projects. One is digital transformation, applying AI in teaching and learning. The second project is making English the second language in schools.

“There are many solutions that need to be implemented to ensure that the two projects achieve their set goals, but one of the most important contents is training, fostering, and equipping knowledge for teachers and education managers,” said Deputy Minister Thuong.

According to Mr. Thuong, although education has been given attention through directives and priority policies, implementing this content in Vietnam is still a challenging problem due to the large scale of the target audience, regional characteristics, and different ages of teachers.

When implementing, it is necessary to have a clear and specific roadmap, listen to and learn from international experiences of other countries, especially countries with social conditions similar to Vietnam. From there, there will be assessments close to the current educational situation, proposing appropriate recommendations and solutions nationwide and in each locality.

Permanent Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong said it is necessary to develop guidelines for using AI in teaching and learning. There should be specific criteria, emphasizing the use of safe tools, and clear regulations on AI ethics.

Along with that, it is necessary to strengthen the implementation of training and fostering digital skills for managers, teachers, and students, creating an AI ecosystem, personalizing, and shortening the educational gap with AI.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that it is necessary to prioritize protecting student and teacher data and comply with AI ethics regulations, selecting content appropriate to each age group and local conditions.

One of the priorities is to protect student and teacher data, comply with ethical standards and safety when using AI. Therefore, he also believes that it is necessary to develop tools to protect students according to each level and age, so that they can access AI safely.

On the teachers' side, AI is being piloted in management, lesson preparation support, and innovation in testing and student assessment methods.

Director of the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers (Ministry of Education and Training) Vu Minh Duc also said that in the near future, the Ministry of Education and Training will issue regulations on ethics in the use of AI, including instructions on limiting the sharing of personal information and minimizing data leakage on platforms.

In the draft requesting opinions on the pilot implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) education content in general education recently, the Ministry of Education and Training said that the AI education content framework is developed based on 4 main knowledge streams, corresponding to 4 complementary competency domains, including: human-centered thinking, AI ethics, AI techniques and applications, AI system design.

From December 2025 to May 2026, the Ministry will conduct a pilot at a number of educational institutions. In June 2026, summarize and evaluate the pilot results, complete the AI Content Framework to propose widespread implementation in the following school years.
