However, after the adjustment process, the total investment increased to more than VND5,621 billion. Regarding site clearance, it is expected that there will be 598 affected cases requiring land acquisition.

Expected implementation roadmap

The city aims that if the budget is approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, the work will be implemented according to the following roadmap:

  • Quarter I to Quarter III/2027: Complete compensation and site clearance; select contractor and start construction.
  • End of 2027 to end of 2028: Construction, completion, acceptance and putting into use.

The city assesses that the upgrading and expansion of Ton That Thuyet Street, combined with the construction of a green park along the Te Canal and the construction of a new Street No. 1 (according to the plan) ensures dual goals.

Impact on regional infrastructure and urban areas

The upgrading of Ton That Thuyet Street is expected to achieve a dual goal: solving drainage problems, improving the environment, and beautifying the urban area through the relocation of houses along canals. The project also ensures synchronous connection with the upcoming Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road project, helping to connect District 1, District 4 and District 7.

In addition, another important project, the expansion of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street with a length of 2.5 km and a total capital of nearly 3,000 billion VND, will also be implemented in parallel, contributing to the completion of the regional traffic network.

Large real estate projects along Ton That Thuyet Street will benefit from infrastructure expansion.
With the expansion tripling, the old District 4 area system, which currently has the highest population density in Ho Chi Minh City, will be improved, and a series of real estate projects will benefit.

The infrastructure expansion is expected to significantly improve traffic conditions in District 4, one of the most densely populated areas in the city, while also providing a boost to real estate projects in the area.
