The project to build, renovate and expand Ton That Thuyet Street and the green park along the Te Canal, Ho Chi Minh City, has just been approved by the City Appraisal Council for the adjusted pre-feasibility study report. The total investment of the project after adjustment is more than 5,621 billion VND, an increase of more than 3,400 billion VND compared to the original plan.

The project is invested by the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, implemented in the wards of Xom Chieu, Vinh Hoi and Khanh Hoi. With the new total investment, the project is upgraded from group B to group A and will use capital from the city budget.
Planning details and adjusted scale
According to the adjustment plan, Ton That Thuyet Street will be expanded to a length of 3.4 km, with a road surface width of 27 m, an increase of 2 m compared to the original plan. Currently, this road is only about 7 - 9 m wide.

The starting point of the route is at the intersection between Road No. 1 (according to the planning) and Ben Van Don Street (Vinh Hoi Ward). The end point connects with Truong Dinh Hoi Street and the road section along Ton That Thuyet Canal (Xom Chieu Ward).
The main items of the project include:
- Expanding Ton That Thuyet street.
- Build a new 27m wide bridge across Nguyen Kieu canal.
- Expand Nguyen Kieu bridge on Ben Van Don street to 25 m.
- Construction of protective embankments and green parks along the banks of the Te Canal.

Investment capital and site clearance work
Initially, the project was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in 2016 with a total investment capital of VND1,466 billion. However, after the adjustment process, the total investment increased to more than VND5,621 billion. Regarding site clearance, it is expected that there will be 598 affected cases requiring land acquisition.

Expected implementation roadmap
The city aims that if the budget is approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, the work will be implemented according to the following roadmap:
- Quarter I to Quarter III/2027: Complete compensation and site clearance; select contractor and start construction.
- End of 2027 to end of 2028: Construction, completion, acceptance and putting into use.

Impact on regional infrastructure and urban areas
The upgrading of Ton That Thuyet Street is expected to achieve a dual goal: solving drainage problems, improving the environment, and beautifying the urban area through the relocation of houses along canals. The project also ensures synchronous connection with the upcoming Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road project, helping to connect District 1, District 4 and District 7.
In addition, another important project, the expansion of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street with a length of 2.5 km and a total capital of nearly 3,000 billion VND, will also be implemented in parallel, contributing to the completion of the regional traffic network.

The infrastructure expansion is expected to significantly improve traffic conditions in District 4, one of the most densely populated areas in the city, while also providing a boost to real estate projects in the area.
