May 9, which marks the victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War, is one of the most important holidays in Russia. This year the parade took place in snow and temperatures of 1 degree Celsius.

"Russia will do everything to prevent a global conflict, but will not allow any country to threaten it. Russia's strategic forces are always in a state of combat readiness," Putin said. According to Reuters, in addition to President Putin and Russian officials, a number of leaders of Moscow's allied countries including Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Cuba, Laos and Guinea-Bissau were present at the parade.
