Opening the tournament, Mr. Vu Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, said that chess is an intellectual sport that brings many practical benefits in training logical thinking, improving concentration, discipline, perseverance and bravery for players. In recent years, the chess movement in Ninh Binh province has been constantly developing in both depth and breadth. In particular, chess has been introduced to kindergartens in the province, attracting a large number of young students to actively respond and participate in training. This is the province's strong sport in international competitions, demonstrated through the achievements of athletes: Bui Thi Ngoc Chi, Le Dang Bao Ngoc, Nguyen Thi Khanh Van, Vu Bui Thi Thanh Van, winning 3 Gold medals, 4 Silver medals, 4 Bronze medals at the East Asian Youth Chess Championship in 2023; In particular, athlete Nguyen Ngoc Hien won the Gold medal in the 2024 World Women's Blitz Chess event in Slovenia.
