Young teacher uses many initiatives to teach disabled students

By researching and applying many initiatives in teaching, Mr. Luong Duc Tai (29 years old), a teacher at Dong Thap School for Children with Disabilities, has helped students confidently integrate into the community.

Born into a family with hearing-impaired relatives, from a young age, Mr. Luong Duc Tai understood the difficulties that disabled people face in life and study. That close experience soon formed in him a love and sympathy for the less fortunate.

While studying primary education at Dong Thap University, Mr. Tai participated in volunteer activities at Dong Thap School for Disabled Children (Sa Dec City, Dong Thap). Through interactions with disabled students, many emotions remained and urged him to pursue the path of special education.

In 2018, after graduating from university, Mr. Tai took the entrance exam to Dong Thap School for Children with Disabilities. In the first days of teaching, he was surprised by the difficulties in communicating and imparting knowledge to deaf students. Undaunted, outside of class, he spent time learning sign language through books and from his own students.

When the initial research was applied, seeing the students progress and become more confident every day, teacher Luong Duc Tai had more motivation to try. Those silent efforts were the stepping stone for a series of special education initiatives that he successfully implemented later. "During the teaching process, I saw that the students had many obstacles in psychology, communication, and language ability. They lost the ability to listen, so they had no vocabulary, and the way of communicating when using sentences was not correct. From there, I came up with the idea of conducting research to help students improve their vocabulary and be able to write sentences," said teacher Tai.

With his efforts and dedication, in 2022, Mr. Tai received a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister for his outstanding achievements in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; achieved the title of Outstanding Young Teacher of Dong Thap province for the 2022-2023 school year... Recently, he was one of the young people who won the award "Outstanding Young Face of the Land of Pink Lotus" in 2025.
