This is a great advantage for the development of tourism in the port city.

Resolution 45-NQ/TW of the Politburo determined to build Cat Ba and Do Son into international tourism centers. This is an important policy and orientation to promote Hai Phong tourism development to new heights.

Hai Phong is known as an old port city with famous tourist areas Do Son and Cat Ba. In particular, Cat Ba archipelago has national and international titles such as Special National Monument - Scenic Landscape, World Biosphere Reserve, Lan Ha Bay is one of the most beautiful bays in the world. With outstanding values ​​in marine ecosystems, biodiversity and aesthetics, on September 16, 2023, Cat Ba archipelago was recognized by UNESCO as an inter-provincial World Natural Heritage along with Ha Long Bay.

Realizing the policy of making tourism one of the three economic pillars, Hai Phong City has mobilized all resources, applied mechanisms and investment forms, focused on accelerating the progress of synchronous infrastructure development projects, especially the transportation system, airports, ports, new urban areas, high-end commercial centers... to support tourism development.

The city also orients the development of sea and island tourism as the core, spreading and developing types of sports tourism, resorts, MICE tourism, community tourism... In particular, digital transformation in tourism is not only a strategy, but also a driving force for sustainable growth for Hai Phong.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, emphasized that a convenient and synchronous transportation system and modern technical facilities are the “leverage” for sustainable tourism development. The built and upgraded routes have created favorable conditions to attract investment, promote the effectiveness of tourism projects, develop tourism products, and open new tourism routes.

Develop new tourism products

Hai Phong is a city with full potential for tourism development, including railways, roads, and airlines. At the same time, Hai Phong is actively developing and innovating tourism products to diversify the experience for visitors and enhance the attractiveness of the locality.

Cat Bi International Airport has been expanding international flights, connecting Hai Phong with many major cities such as Guangzhou, Shanghai (China), Bangkok (Thailand), Seoul (Korea) and recently Lijiang (China). This not only creates favorable conditions for tourists, but also helps travel agencies design tours at reasonable prices, saving travel time and costs, thereby stimulating domestic and international tourism to Hai Phong.

Hai Phong is researching and implementing waterway tourism routes along the Cam River, Lach Tray River and Tam Bac River, connecting tourist attractions in the city. At the same time, the city is also aiming to develop inter-provincial waterway tourism routes to create a diverse and attractive chain of tourism products.

With railway tourism, Hai Phong has been receiving many positive signs, in line with the trend of slow travel and historical and cultural experiences of tourists. On May 10, the City launched the Hoa Phuong Do train, organizing a tour to experience the Hanoi - Hai Phong railway, bringing tourists to the scenic spots, historical and cultural relics of Hai Phong and in the future, other localities. The trains are not only a means of transportation, but will be journeys of discovery, cultural and historical experiences.

With thorough preparation and investment, Hai Phong is increasingly diversifying its tourism products and will enhance its position on the Vietnamese tourism map.
