Despite often criticizing Apple, billionaire Elon Musk recently surprised everyone by praising a new feature on AirPods headphones.
On November 28, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared a video promoting the hearing aid feature on social network X. In the clip, a hearing-impaired father used AirPods Pro 2 to listen to the sound at the moment his daughter opened Christmas presents.
“Cool,” Elon Musk commented on the ad. Musk also shared Cook’s Thanksgiving message on X. Cook thanked the Apple team, users, and everyone working to make the world a better place.
According to the US Food and Drug Administration, more than 30 million Americans have hearing loss. Users will take a hearing test on AirPods Pro 2 or use the test results from a medical facility to adjust the sound appropriately when wearing headphones.
Musk’s relationship with Apple hasn’t always been so friendly. The conflict between the Tesla boss and the iPhone maker began in 2015, when he mocked the company for hiring people who had been rejected by the electric carmaker.
In June, when Apple announced a partnership with OpenAI, a startup Musk co-founded, he once again voiced his criticism. Musk posted a series of articles on X to respond, saying that Apple's integration of ChatGPT into software in iOS 18 was an "unacceptable security breach." He also vowed to ban Apple products from his companies.
Musk also mocked Apple's AI move, saying Apple "isn't smart enough to do AI itself."
“No,” Musk wrote as Tim Cook promoted Apple Intelligence. “Either stop this creepy tracking software or all Apple devices will be banned from my companies.”
