Cong Phuong's cousin and coach Troussier's favorite student were praised.

In their first appearance in the V.League, central midfielder Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong (Cong Phuong's cousin) and Nguyen Duc Phu (coach Troussier's favorite player) contributed to helping the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club win 2-1 against Hanoi in the first round on the evening of August 16.

Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong (19), born in 2004, made his first appearance in V.League for the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club after moving from the first division team Ba Ria Vung Tau (now Ho Chi Minh City Club). Quoc Cuong's grandmother is Cong Phuong's grandfather's younger sister.

Quoc Cuong played steadily in the midfield, often bringing the ball up the field, helping CA TP.HCM's counter-attacking defense become sharper.

However, outside the pitch, coach Le Huynh Duc still strictly reminded Quoc Cuong to be more agile in circulating the ball.

Pairing with Quoc Cuong is midfielder Nguyen Duc Phu - coach Philippe Troussier's favorite student, an irreplaceable pillar in the U19 and U23 Vietnam teams before 2024.

Previously, Duc Phu was criticized for running well and only knowing how to move around in the middle of the field and pass the ball back. Now, under the guidance of experienced coach Huynh Duc, the former PVF-CAND player has boldly carried the ball and broken through the opponent's defense system.

After the 2-1 victory over Hanoi FC, coach Le Huynh Duc praised Duc Phu and Quoc Cuong for playing confidently and showing great potential for further development.
