Attending the ceremony were leaders of Vietnam Railways, People's Committees of Binh Duong and Tien Giang provinces and relevant sectors.
Vietnam currently has over 200,000 hectares of coconut trees planted in riverside and coastal provinces; but only 20% of the coconut trees are grown to organic standards, meeting quality and safety requirements for export.
The first batch of fresh coconuts was exported by FAdo IExport Joint Stock Company (FADO) on a trial basis, consisting of 03 containers weighing 67.5 tons, with a value of about 220,000 yuan. The estimated shipping time from Song Than International Transit Station (Binh Duong) to Guangzhou, China is 7 days.
This is a new mode of transportation, with the advantages of stable time according to plan, quick customs procedures for import and export to China, lower logistics costs compared to road transport, to minimize congestion and congestion at the Vietnam - China border gate. Thereby helping to ensure the quality of agricultural products exported to Chinese consumers.
Mr. Pham Tan Dat, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of FADO said: Fresh coconut grown in an organic direction is tested to meet standards, harvested by FADO, processed, and stored cold at 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, ensuring 100% naturalness, with a shelf life of 70 days. Currently, FADO has exported the product to 7 European countries and the US.
Through surveying and comparing transportation methods, we chose the railway because it ensures procedures, transparency, and on schedule, and brings goods deep into mainland China, easily spreading to third markets such as Mongolia, Kazakhstan, etc. In the coming time, FADO will expand more agricultural export products through Song Than international transit station because the procedures are very convenient.
Regarding the railway industry, Mr. Phan Quoc Anh, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railway Corporation informed: Song Than International Railway Station in Binh Duong province is located in the Southern key economic zone and is one of the most dynamically developing localities in the Southern region, very convenient for transporting import and export goods between Vietnam and China, especially exported fruits.
The Ministry of Transport has been implementing projects to upgrade and renovate Song Than station. It is expected that in the period of 2025-2030, after completing these projects, Song Than station's capacity will reach 3.5 million tons/year and become the largest cargo terminal in the system of Vietnam's railway stations, serving complete logistics activities and meeting all requirements.
Vietnam Railways Corporation has directed its member units and Song Than international transit station to organize direct trains (from Song Than station) to China, transiting to third countries and vice versa to meet the requirements of domestic import and export of goods, including Vietnamese agricultural products.
