According to a report from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), by the end of October 2025, the D-size SUV group sold a total of about 2,317 vehicles, an increase of 493 vehicles (about 43%) compared to the previous month. Notably, except for the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, the remaining models in the segment all recorded a slight increase in sales.
Ford Everest continues to show its overwhelming position, recording sales of 1,415 vehicles in October, an increase of 346 vehicles compared to the previous month. This result helps Ford Everest not only maintain its leading position in the 7-seat SUV segment, but also widen the gap with its close rival Toyota Fortuner.

Toyota Fortuner sold 300 cars, an increase of 67 cars compared to September 2025. However, if compared to Ford Everest, Fortuner's sales were only about 1/5. Following behind Fortuner was Mazda CX-8 with 288 cars sold (up 94 cars), Hyundai SantaFe with 208 cars sold (up 6 cars) and Kia Sorento with 133 cars (up 22 cars).
In the remaining group, Isuzu mu-X, although it has launched a mid-life upgraded version with many upgrades, sales results still do not show much breakthrough. In October 2025, Isuzu dealers sold only 33 mu-X cars, an increase of 18 cars compared to the previous month (not even the odd number of Ford Everest).

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is almost out of stock at dealers and sales are calculated at 0 in October 2025. Currently, the Japanese car company has not announced whether it will stop selling this model in the Vietnamese market or not? It is predicted that this coming December, Pajero Sport will be replaced by Mitsubishi Destinator with a quite soft price, around under 800 million VND.
It can be seen that the success of Ford Everest at the present time comes not only from the product itself but also from the market context when this segment is lacking strong enough competitors to create real competitive pressure.

Specifically, Hyundai SantaFe was closely following Everest in 2024 but has not maintained its form as in its golden period (2021-2022). Especially since the launch of the new generation in September 2024, this Korean car model has recorded a sharp decline in sales.
As for Toyota Fortuner, this model has lost steam after many years without being renewed. Mazda CX-8 is also an "interesting" competitor, but it focuses on comfort and urban experience, not strong in load capacity or off-road. As for Kia Sorento, it just launched an upgraded version in mid-September 2025 with a variety of versions with both gasoline, diesel and hybrid engines (old generation), but the selling price is quite high, from 1.249-1.469 billion VND and has not really been promoted in the media... also making users hesitant before "putting down money".

It is predicted that Ford Everest will definitely maintain its "segment king" status until the end of 2025. And to be able to surpass this D-size SUV, the remaining car manufacturers will have to make drastic changes in both products and strategies, if they do not want to continue losing market share to the American brand by 2026.
According to a report from VAMA, by the end of October 2025, the number of Everest cars delivered to Vietnamese customers had reached 9,760 units. Far surpassing Toyota Fortuner (2,555 units), Hyundai Santa Fe (2,179 units), Mazda CX-8 (2,017 units), KIA Sorento (831 units), Isuzu Mu-X (219 units), Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (48 units),...
