Cat Tien urgently supports people to evacuate property and livestock due to flood risk

On the evening of November 20, Secretary of the Party Committee of Cat Tien Commune (Lam Dong) Ho Quoc Phong said that the locality is mobilizing maximum forces to support people in moving their assets and livestock out of areas at risk of deep flooding due to the Dong Nai 5 hydropower plant increasing flood discharge.

According to information from Dong Nai 5 Hydropower Company, from 13:00 on the same day, the unit continued to increase the spillway discharge to regulate the reservoir due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain in the upstream. The water discharge through the spillway reached 1,452m³/s, through the generator turbine 268.8m³/s, the total water discharge to the downstream reached 1,720.8m³/s.

The flood discharge with a large flow in a short period of time caused the water level of Dong Nai River to rise suddenly, directly threatening residential areas in Cat Tien commune.

Authorities conduct on-site inspection
The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Cat Tien commune inspected areas at high risk of flooding.

On the night of November 20, the leaders and Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Cat Tien commune activated the emergency flood and storm prevention plan. Police, military , militia and self-defense forces and organizations were mobilized to the villages to support the people.
