Nearly 2.3 million Hanoi students joyfully attend special opening ceremony

GD&TĐ - On the morning of September 5, nearly 2.3 million students in Hanoi happily attended the opening ceremony of the new school year 2025-2025, associated with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the tradition of the Education sector.

Attending the ceremony at Phan Huy Chu High School (Lang Ward, Hanoi ) were Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai - Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Mr. Tran Sy Thanh - Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan - Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council; Ms. Bui Huyen Mai - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi; Mr. Tran The Cuong - Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

The 2025-2026 school year is the first school year taking place in a new context when the whole country completes the arrangement of administrative units, implements the two-level local government model, and is also the first school year implementing Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development.

Hanoi is currently the locality with the largest educational scale in the country with more than 2,900 kindergartens and general schools with nearly 2.3 million students and nearly 128,000 teachers. In addition, the city also has 29 vocational education - continuing education centers, vocational training facilities, meeting the diverse learning needs of students in the area.

Hanoi education achieved impressive results in the 2025 high school graduation exam. The rate of Hanoi students graduating from high school in 2025 reached 99.75%, ranking first in the country. Hanoi is the leading locality in the country in terms of 10 points; the foreign language exam score has 3 top students nationwide with 30/30 points; 1 top student of 5 subject groups, 200 high schools have a 100% graduation rate...

Students of the capital have affirmed their leading position in the country with 200 students winning prizes in national competitions for excellent students, 6 projects participating in national science and technology research competitions all winning prizes; 1 project won second prize at the International Science and Technology Competition (ISEF 2025), 14 students won prizes at international competitions for excellent students, and won 89 medals at the National High School Sports Competition in 2025.

Last school year, Hanoi continued to be the leading locality in the country in digital transformation of education. Integrating technology into education management helps reduce the time for completing documents and reports; at the same time, increasing transparency and connectivity between parents - teachers - schools.

City leaders presented flowers to congratulate officials, teachers and staff of the Hanoi Education Department and Phan Huy Chu High School.

In addition, the city has effectively deployed software to support online teaching and learning, built a digital learning resource bank, an open library, etc. Schools also make the most of digital platforms to organize online testing and assessment - this is not only to adapt to emergency situations such as epidemics and natural disasters, but also an inevitable direction when Hanoi is striving to build a learning society, participating in the UNESCO "Learning City" network.

The 2025-2026 school year begins with parents and students filled with joy as preschoolers and primary school students across the country are exempted from tuition fees. In Hanoi, primary school students are also supported with boarding meals.

The total support budget is over VND3,000 billion, for about 768,000 students at public and private schools (excluding foreign-invested schools). These two policies are a big step forward, deeply humane, demonstrating the city's responsibility in caring for future generations.
