On the morning of June 3, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Nong Cong district and other departments, branches and units to organize the 2023 Thanh Hoa Province Swimming and Diving Competition.
The tournament took place at the swimming pool of the Center for Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism of Nong Cong district.
The tournament had nearly 200 athletes from 16 delegations, coming from many districts, towns, cities, departments, branches, organizations, schools and businesses in the province.
Athletes compete in 34 individual swimming and diving events for men and women in the following age groups: under 12, 12 to 14, 15 to 17, 18 years old and above (for instructors) with distances of 25 m, 50 m freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and rescue swimming (rescuing drowning victims aged 12 and 14).
Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism delivered opening remarks at the tournament.
There are also 4 team events including 2x50m mixed breaststroke team relay; 3x50m women's freestyle relay; 3x50m men's freestyle relay; 4x50m men's and women's freestyle relay.
The tournament applies the current Swimming and Diving Rules. Athletes will compete for 38 sets of medals.
The Organizing Committee awarded souvenir flags to the participating teams.

The Organizing Committee awarded medals and prizes to individuals and teams with high achievements in the tournament's competitions, and also awarded first, second and third prizes to outstanding units.
The tournament aims to promote propaganda and mobilize the entire population to actively practice swimming and diving to improve health, physical strength, stature, and equip knowledge and skills to prevent and combat drowning. At the same time, it contributes to creating a source of athletes to supplement the province's swimming and diving teams.
