The continuous rains have reduced the harvest by about 10-20%, but the new increase in coffee prices has helped farmers feel more confident in the early stages of the season. Many households are still having difficulty drying due to heavy rains, but the increase in coffee prices has helped reduce the cost pressure.
Fruit drop is occurring in many fields, causing low yields per harvest, averaging only 3-5 tons fresh. Prolonged rains have forced farmers to choose mechanical drying or fresh sales, affecting the quality of the beans. Some shipments have blackened fruits, affecting quality and raising concerns that actual yields will be lower than forecast. Coffee prices have therefore received significant support.

On the London floor, the price of robusta coffee futures for January 2026 closed at $4,571 per ton, up $88. The price of futures for March 2026 increased by $75 to $4,443 per ton.
On the New York floor, the price of robusta coffee futures for December 2025 delivery closed at $413.5/ton, up $10.95. The price of futures for March 2026 delivery increased by $9.3 to $385.9/ton.
While arabica on the New York floor decreased slightly, arabica and robusta inventories both decreased sharply, supporting the upward trend of global coffee prices.
Brazil is facing difficulties because its coffee exports to the US are subject to a 40% tax. Exports in the first half of November reached only 12,850 tons/day, down 14.4% compared to the same period last year.
The Brazilian coffee association said the industry is losing market share, leading to a global supply crunch and increased competition. Exports of specialty coffee to the United States have fallen 55% in the past three months, providing further support to international coffee prices.
As of November 17, arabica inventories tracked by ICE fell to 400,790 bags, a 1.75-year low. Robusta inventories fell to 5,648 lots, a four-month low. The continued decline in inventories is an important factor in strengthening the upward trend of coffee prices in the coming period.
