Pig price in the North
In the Northern region, the price of live pigs today generally did not record many fluctuations compared to the previous session. Notably, Hanoi adjusted up slightly by 1,000 VND/kg, currently trading at 69,000 VND/kg.
Most other localities kept the same price as yesterday. Of which, Bac Giang , Phu Tho and Thai Binh continued to lead the region with the highest price of 69,000 VND/kg.
On the contrary, Yen Bai, Lao Cai , Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh maintained the lowest level in the region, at 67,000 VND/kg.
The remaining provinces such as Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen, Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc and Tuyen Quang are currently stable at 68,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in Central Highlands
In the Central and Central Highlands regions, the live hog market remained stable in most localities on May 29. Binh Thuan was the only province in the region to record an increase, with an increase of VND1,000/kg, bringing the price to VND74,000/kg.
Most of the remaining provinces and cities have not changed compared to the previous day. Specifically, Lam Dong and Binh Thuan are at the highest level with 74,000 VND/kg; followed by Dak Lak at 73,000 VND/kg and Ninh Thuan at 72,000 VND/kg. Binh Dinh currently records a price of 70,000 VND/kg.
Provinces such as Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Khanh Hoa all kept the price at 69,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Quang Tri maintained it at 68,000 VND/kg; Ha Tinh had the lowest price in the region, at 67,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in the South
The Southern pig market on May 29 was the area that recorded the most price fluctuations.
Specifically, 5 localities increased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, including: Binh Phuoc and Binh Duong both increased to 74,000 VND/kg; Tay Ninh, Dong Thap and Can Tho simultaneously raised the price to 75,000 VND/kg.
In addition, many other key provinces maintained high and stable prices at 75,000 VND/kg such as Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Long An, An Giang, Tien Giang and Ben Tre.
Some other localities maintain the price of 74,000 VND/kg, including Vinh Long, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Ca Mau, Tra Vinh, Bac Lieu and Soc Trang. Ho Chi Minh City alone is currently trading at a lower level, reaching 73,000 VND/kg.

Ha Nam: Destroyed nearly 3 tons of pork positive for African swine fever virus
On May 28, the Economic Security Department, Ha Nam Provincial Police announced that it had discovered nearly 3 tons of pork positive for African swine fever virus at the slaughterhouse of Mr. Nguyen Tien Manh's household, Ninh Lao Residential Group, Duy Minh Ward, Duy Tien Town (Ha Nam).
Previously, in the early morning of May 27, the Economic Security Department, Ha Nam Provincial Police coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Nam Province to conduct a surprise inspection of the slaughterhouse of Mr. Nguyen Tien Manh's household in Ninh Lao Residential Group, Duy Minh Ward, Duy Tien Town.
At the time of inspection, there were 21 pigs (from 50 to 140 kg/pig) in the holding area, all showing signs of coughing, difficulty breathing, lethargy, slowness, and dry nose. Checking the slaughter area, there were 5 pigs being slaughtered and 3 pigs being brought to Duy Minh market by the owner to sell (an initial unspecified quantity was sold and about 100 kg was handed over to the Inspection Team).
The inspection team took samples at the slaughterhouse and sent them to the Regional Veterinary Department I, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment). The results of the above samples were positive for African swine fever virus. The inspection team temporarily detained and destroyed nearly 3 tons of pork positive for African swine fever virus from Mr. Nguyen Tien Manh's slaughterhouse, according to Ha Nam newspaper.
