Pig price today May 29: Peak area continues to increase

Pig prices in many southern provinces continue to increase, close to the peak of 76,000 VND/kg.

In the sluggish trend in the northern provinces, Hanoi alone recorded a 1,000 VND increase in live pig prices to 69,000 VND/kg; the same level as Phu Tho, Thai Binh and Bac Giang. The remaining provinces and cities ranged from 67,000 - 68,000 VND/kg.

In the Central region, the low price zone is in the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai , where the price of live pigs is still maintained at 68,000 - 69,000 VND/kg, with Ha Tinh at 67,000 VND/kg. On the contrary, in Binh Thuan , it increased by 1,000 VND to 74,000 VND/kg; along with Lam Dong, it has the highest price in the region. Other provinces in the region from Binh Dinh to Binh Thuan and the Central Highlands have a common price of live pigs from 69,000 - 73,000 VND/kg.

Surprisingly, the Southern region - where the price of live pigs is sky high - continued to increase. Specifically, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap and Can Tho increased by 1,000 VND to 75,000 VND/kg. Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc provinces also increased from 73,000 to 74,000 VND/kg. The highest price of live pigs in the region and the whole country is Long An with 76,000 VND/kg. Notably, Ho Chi Minh City has the lowest price in the region with 73,000 VND/kg, other provinces and cities have 74,000 VND/kg.

The average price of live pigs nationwide is 70,800 VND/kg. In the Chinese market, the average price of live pigs is about 52,200 VND/kg.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the price of pork at wholesale markets ranges from 85,000 - 92,000 VND/kg. Retail prices of meat at distribution channels have not fluctuated much, some popular items such as pig tail 230,000 VND/kg, pork chops 114,000 VND/kg, thigh meat 147,000 VND/kg, pork belly 214,000 VND/kg, ribless pork belly 250,000 VND/kg, boneless pork leg 152,000 VND/kg, lean meat 193,000 VND/kg.../.
