More than 700 pigs were destroyed, African swine fever spread rapidly.
According to information from the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, African swine fever started on July 4, causing 708 pigs to become sick, die and be destroyed. The epidemic has appeared in 10 communes in many districts, including Dak Sak, Tuy Duc, Quang Tin, Cu Jut, Krong No, Duc An, Truong Xuan, Nhan Co, Nam Da and Bao Lam 1. Currently, the whole province has 17 households in 9 communes that are still in the epidemic area for less than 21 days.
Faced with this complicated situation, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong has issued an urgent request to the People's Committees of communes and related units. Localities need to mobilize all resources to:
Strictly implement measures in outbreak areas and high-risk areas.
Strengthen inspection of buying, selling, transporting and slaughtering pigs to prevent spread.
Forces participating in the fight against the epidemic must strictly comply with protective, hygiene and disinfection measures.
Require accurate and timely reporting of data and strict handling of cases of concealment and late reporting.
The Department also assigned specific tasks to its affiliated units to ensure food safety and effective disease prevention. With 580 communes in 31 provinces and cities nationwide having African swine fever for less than 21 days, Lam Dong needs to take drastic action to avoid the risk of spreading.
