(GLO)- On the afternoon of May 15, Vice Chairwoman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich chaired a meeting to deploy tasks of members of the Provincial Steering Committee for the 2023 High School Graduation Exam.
At the meeting, representatives of the Department of Education and Training (DET) announced the decision to establish the Provincial Steering Committee for the 2023 High School Graduation Exam. Accordingly, the Steering Committee has 38 members; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich is the Head of the Committee, Director of the Department of Education and Training Le Duy Dinh is the Standing Deputy Head of the Committee, Chairman of the Examination Council.

According to the report of the Department of Education and Training, in preparation for the 2023 High School Graduation Exam, the Department of Education and Training has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a Decision on the establishment of the Provincial Steering Committee for the Exam and related directives and instructions; at the same time, preside over and coordinate with functional branches, press agencies and direct affiliated units to propagate the meaning and importance of the exam, disseminate the Exam Regulations and other regulations and instructions on the exam to cadres, teachers, staff, students, trainees and people in the area; direct the strengthening of teaching and review work for grade 12 students...
In addition, the Department of Education and Training also organized a conference to review experiences in organizing the 2022 High School Graduation Exam and deploy solutions to effectively implement the 2023 High School Graduation Exam Regulations; and provided training on the organization of the first exam for managers and teachers in charge of guiding candidates to register for the exam.
Up to now, the work of organizing online registration for 12th grade students, collecting and entering the records of independent candidates into the exam management system has been completed. As of 5:00 p.m. on May 13, the whole province had 14,855 candidates registered for the exam (3,183 ethnic minority candidates); of which, 14,252 were 12th grade students, 603 were independent candidates. In terms of exam registration wishes, Gia Lai has 1,015 candidates taking the exam only for graduation; 13,840 candidates taking both graduation and university and college entrance exams; 4,249 candidates registered for the Natural Science exam, 9,621 candidates registered for the Social Science exam. In addition to the English foreign language exam, the whole province has 1 candidate registered to take the Russian exam, 16 candidates registered to take the Chinese exam, 2 candidates registered to take the Japanese exam and 3 candidates registered to take the Korean exam.
Based on the Examination Regulations and the number of candidates registered for the examination, the Department of Education and Training has inspected, surveyed, and selected 41 examination sites with facilities and technical equipment meeting the requirements for organizing the examination according to regulations in 17 districts, towns, and cities with 640 examination rooms. At each official examination site, backup examination rooms are arranged; at each district, town, and city, there is 1 backup examination site. The Department of Education and Training also plans to mobilize 2,374 officers, teachers, and employees to work in the Examination Council's Committees. Along with that, the police force has 278 soldiers, the medical force has 41 doctors and nurses participating in the examination work.

Based on the report of the Department of Education and Training and the draft assignment of tasks, members of the Provincial Steering Committee focused on discussing a number of shortcomings and limitations that need to be learned from in the stages of organizing the exam; in estimating the budget for organizing the exam and implementing support policies for candidates in difficult circumstances, candidates who are ethnic minorities in remote areas... At the same time, they proposed practical solutions so that the 2023 High School Graduation Exam in Gia Lai takes place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich requested members of the Provincial Steering Committee for the exam to carefully study relevant documents and base on assigned tasks to organize and implement; in which, pay attention to important time milestones so that the exam takes place to ensure quality, safety, seriousness and compliance with regulations.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested to supplement the tasks of the Department of Health in advising on ensuring food hygiene and safety, disease prevention and control before and during the exam; assigning health personnel appropriately in the spirit of not being subjective or negligent but not making the problem serious. The Inspection sector needs to review and deploy tasks in accordance with the provisions of the Inspection Law. Members of the Provincial Steering Committee for the Examination are leaders of districts, towns and cities who need to maintain close contact with the Provincial Steering Committee for the Examination to promptly resolve any arising problems; at the same time, advise local authorities to do a good job of supporting candidates in difficult circumstances, candidates who are ethnic minorities in remote areas so that they can feel secure in taking the exam...
