On September 8, information from the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health said that the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 429/QD-UBND approving the project "Developing the health system of Gia Lai province to 2030".
This project aims to mobilize resources to develop local healthcare, especially in the difficult years after the COVID-19 pandemic. In Gia Lai, financial autonomy of public hospitals is facing many difficulties.
According to the project, the health sector of Gia Lai province strives to have 100% of commune health stations with doctors working by 2025, the ratio of doctors/10,000 people will reach 9 doctors by 2025. 10 doctors/10,000 people by 2030, 22 nurses/10,000 people by 2025 and 25 nurses/10,000 people by 2030.
Gia Lai Department of Health is responsible for building the province's preventive health system to ensure the capacity to respond promptly to emergencies and disasters, and to be able to respond to pandemics.
Gia Lai also aims to promote the socialization of healthcare and encourage the development of the private healthcare system. The hospital diversifies forms of public-private partnership in the spirit of ensuring transparency, openness, and non-discrimination between public and private sectors in the provision of healthcare and medical services.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that after the COVID-19 pandemic, many medical staff in Gia Lai province quit their jobs and transferred to private medical facilities with more attractive salaries and benefits.
Hospitals such as Mental Hospital, Tuberculosis and Lung Hospital, Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital… are lacking skilled and experienced doctors.
After two years of preventing the COVID-19 epidemic, the number of patients coming for examination and being transferred from district level has decreased sharply, so the revenue is limited, the hospital's revenue is not enough to cover expenses.
Many doctors have accepted disciplinary action to resign in order to be transferred to private hospitals. Leaders of public hospitals hope to soon have a mechanism to pay salaries according to job position and increase benefits to find and retain talent.
