Gia Lai: More than 195 billion VND to solidify more than 7 km of irrigation canals in 3 localities in the East of the province

(GLO)- Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Duong Mah Tiep has just signed a decision approving the investment project to solidify 7,024 km of irrigation canals in 3 localities in the East of the province, including: An Nhon Bac ward, Ngo May commune and Tuy Phuoc Dong commune.

The total investment of the project is more than 195 billion VND, using state budget capital managed by the province, arranged in 2 phases: 2021-2025 and 2026-2030. The project is invested by the Provincial Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board.

The entire canal is invested and built on the basis of the existing earthen canal, to ensure drainage and serve agricultural production. The canal is designed with an average bank width of 4 m, height from 2.2-2.5 m and the bottom of the canal is from 6-8.6 m wide. In addition, the project also includes the construction of 59 construction items on the route such as drainage axis, concrete canal surface combined with traffic roads, serving construction and operation management.

In recent times, the province has allocated various sources of capital to solidify canals, contributing to enhancing drainage capacity, minimizing damage caused by floods, and improving the ecological environment of the area. Photo: Trong Loi

The project aims to prevent landslides on canal banks and slopes, ensure drainage for about 1,200 hectares and provide irrigation water for 550 hectares of agricultural land in the three localities mentioned above.
