Domestic coffee prices drop sharply
Updated at 5:00 a.m. on July 23, 2025, the domestic coffee market recorded a sharp decrease compared to the previous stable session, with a decrease ranging from 1,500 to 1,900 VND/kg. Currently, the average coffee purchase price in key localities is standing at 92,000 VND/kg.
In Lam Dong province, traders are currently trading coffee at 92,300 VND/kg, down 1,700 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Dak Lak province recorded a coffee price of VND92,300/kg, down VND1,500/kg compared to the previous session.
In Gia Lai , coffee prices are currently at VND92,200/kg, after losing VND1,600/kg compared to the previous day.
In Ward 1, Bao Loc, Hoa Ninh, Duc Trong and Dinh Van Lam Ha communes of Lam Dong province, coffee is currently trading at VND91,600/kg, a sharp decrease of VND1,900/kg compared to yesterday.
According to some exporting enterprises, Vietnam is currently entering the final stage of the coffee harvest. The amount of inventory among the people has gradually decreased, while export contracts have been committed in advance, forcing enterprises to increase purchases. This keeps domestic coffee prices high, even though the world market is showing signs of cooling down.
In contrast to domestic prices, international coffee prices are currently affected by global trade policies, especially from Brazil. Factors such as weather changes, tax policies and supply situations from Brazil can cause major shocks in the international market, with a knock-on effect on domestic coffee prices.
In the short term, forecasts suggest that coffee prices in Vietnam may remain flat or fluctuate slightly within a narrow range. However, if international roasters increase purchases or supplies from major producing countries tighten, domestic coffee prices are likely to rise sharply again in the near future.

World pepper market moves in opposite directions
Update from the International Pepper Community (IPC) at 5:00 a.m. on July 23, 2025 showed that the Indonesian market had a slight recovery after yesterday's decline; meanwhile, pepper prices in Brazil remained unchanged from the most recent sharp increase; the remaining countries remained mostly stable.
Specifically, IPC announced that the price of Lampung black pepper in Indonesia is currently at 7,144 USD/ton; while the price of Muntok white pepper is being traded at 9,986 USD/ton.
The price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper is currently unchanged at USD 8,900/ton, while ASTA white pepper is priced at USD 11,750/ton.
Pepper prices in Brazil continued to move sideways after yesterday's increase, remaining at $6,000/ton.
In the Vietnamese market, pepper exports remained stable compared to the previous session, with the price of 500 g/l black pepper at 6,440 USD/ton, 550 g/l at 6,570 USD/ton, and white pepper being offered at 9,150 USD/ton.
According to experts, the domestic pepper market is currently in a state of tug-of-war. Limited supply but weak purchasing power has caused prices to lack the motivation to increase. Many businesses are waiting for clearer signals from the Chinese and European markets to be able to break through at the end of the year.
Internationally, pepper prices remain high, creating favorable conditions for exports if demand recovers. However, in the medium and long term, experts believe that prices will still fluctuate within a narrow range. However, if exports are more active in the fourth quarter, prices could recover significantly.
On the business side, many exporters said that although inventories among the people have been depleted, purchasing power is still weak, putting great pressure on the market. Most businesses are still cautious and are not in a hurry to buy when signals from key markets are still unclear.
According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first 17 days of July 2025, Vietnam exported 10,808 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 70.3 million USD. Compared to the same period last month, export volume decreased by 7.8% and turnover decreased by 11.1%.
Key export markets still include the US with 1,472 tonnes, the UAE with 1,290 tonnes and China with 1,072 tonnes. However, the average export price during this period was only 6,500 USD/tonne, a significant decrease compared to the average of 6,881 USD/tonne in the first 6 months of the year.
