Rising rents push July consumer price index up 0.32%

According to Dak Lak Statistics, the consumer price index (CPI) in July 2025 in Dak Lak province increased by 0.32% compared to the previous month, increased by 5.21% compared to the same period last year and increased by 3.38% compared to December 2024. On average, in the first 7 months of the year, the CPI increased by 5.33%.

Specifically, in July, 9 out of 11 main groups of goods and services increased in price. Leading the way was the group of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials, which increased by 0.73%, contributing to the overall CPI increase by 0.11 percentage points.

The increase was mainly due to a 2.92% increase in private rental prices and a 2.03% increase in home maintenance materials. However, within this group, gas prices fell sharply by 3.82% and household electricity prices fell by 2.37%.

The garment, hat and footwear group increased by 0.71% due to increased consumer demand, especially for men's clothing, sports shoes and accessories. The food and catering services group increased by 0.44%, with all three main items including food, foodstuff and eating out all increasing in price.

The groups of household appliances, beverages - tobacco, other goods and services, culture - entertainment, post and telecommunications and education also recorded a slight increase from 0.05% to 0.31%.

On the other hand, only the transportation group decreased by 0.29% due to the 1.46% decrease in gasoline prices following the world price trend. The group of medicines and medical services remained unchanged compared to the previous month.

Regarding price developments in the first 7 months of the year, 9 out of 11 groups of goods increased in price. Of which, the group of medicines and medical services increased the most with 15.77%; the group of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 12.74%; the group of food and catering services increased by 5.08%.

The main reasons are increased input costs, adjustments in some price management services and high consumer demand during holidays and Tet.
